Today, Primary 7 have been doing the Plastics Challenge. This challenge is to represent things that we can make with plastic. We made piggy banks, plants pots, maracas and much more! We all had lots of fun doing this and made lots of cool things!

The children have been learning about the sun, moon and stars. Their challenge to day was to build their own rocket using only 20 pieces of lego. Next they worked with a partner using 40 pieces of lego to create a rocket that included elements from the rocket they made themselves. The children loved this challenge and worked well together. Many children talked in a positive way to their partner when working together.
As part of our climate change topic primary 6 have been learning about different types of renewable energy. We have been completing different STEAM challenges and our last one was to build a simple wind turbine. The children had to work in groups and were given different resources, depending on the country they represented.
As you can see from the videos below, some of the turbines were more successful than others.
Primary 6 have been exploring the relationship between decimals and fractions. Today they used Numicon to help them convert fractions to decimals. Well done primary 6!
What a busy day! This afternoon Primary 6 were experimenting with BBC Microbits. The children had fun programming their micro bits to count their steps.
During the lesson the children used block code to program. They also managed to adapt their code in order to improve their “Fitbits”.
The children also put their maths skills to the test when they made watch straps in order to support their Microbits.
Here are the finished creations from P6. As you can see they have all shown real creativity here and completed the challenge well. Some of the houses were more successful than others at “beating the flood”. Well done Primary 6.
Primary 6 had great fun completing a STEM challenge where they had an hour to build a flood resistant house. Tomorrow each of the houses will be put to the test, which houses will withstand the flood and which will be washed away…. watch this space to find out!
As part of our topic on the human body, primary 6 have been learning all about the digestive system. Today we had fun experimenting with the journey that our food goes on when it enters our body. As you can see from the photographs the children really enjoyed themselves.
Each group used IPads to record their experience and they will use this evidence to create Sway presentations explaining what they have learned today.
