Primary 1 Spelling w/k 4th October

In P1 this week we are learning the spelling words

If you would like, at home children could practise reading their spelling words,  practice reading their sounds and practice their letter formation.

Some activities could be,

  • writing in rice
  • looking for words in newspapers on the tv
  • Rainbow writing, children write their words using a different colour for each letter.

Primary 2’s phoneme this week is oa.

I have included some activities you could practice at home if you wish.

Activities

Rainbow writing- The children use different colours to write their words down.

Pasta writing- Use penne pasta to make the words.

Sand or Rice writing- Use a tray of sand or rice and ask children to draw out their words in the tray.

Practice your new phoneme words and tricky words. See below for activities

 

Task 1 
Write silly sentences using your phoneme words in each sentence and underline.

Task 2

If you have any old newspapers or magazines, use them to cut out letters to make your phoneme and tricky words. If you have paper and glue, you can glue the letters onto a piece of paper to spell your words.

Task 3

Use sign language to spell your phoneme words and your tricky words. Show your parents the wonderful learning we have been doing in class!

P3a Active Literacy

I have loved getting to know all the children during the short time I have been in Primary 3a. We have our Active Literacy programme up and running and have enjoyed using different materials such as elkonin boxes and pipe cleaners to practice our words each week.

We have also loved exploring and learning about our new topic which is all about Africa/Kenya. Why don’t you ask the children to show off what they have learned.

 

P2A Termly Plans

Numeracy

This term the children will be learning;

  • Bridge ten mentally
  • Use and understand the language of addition and subtraction
  • Make word problems for addition and subtraction
  • Explore measure through length, this will involve using non-standard units to measure
  • Patterns and relationships
  • Exploring shapes by recognising names, correctly identifying the number of sides, what a side is and sorting 3D objects

Literacy

The children will continue to progress through the active spelling tricky words and phonemes.

Social Studies

This term we will be looking at transport in Scotland during the Scottish fortnight and this will continue on to include transport in other places.

Health and Well-being

This term we will explore many areas in health such as

  • Taking responsibility for my own learning and behaviour
  • I can use different ways to cope with my feelings
  • I can identify my own strengths and ares for development

Physical education will include mini fitness programme and skipping.
