This week P7 took a trip down to the Millennium Woods to collect a wide variety of leaves. Once we returned to school we used an identification key to categorise our leaves. We then used EXCEL to create graphs displaying the number of each type.
Lastly, we created autumn land art inspired by Andy Goldsworthy. Take a look at some of our creations and a new friend the P7s found and named Dobbie.
The children are conducting an experiment to find out what happens to each egg.The eggs have been placed in a variety of drinks with different levels of sugar.
Today we had another adventure in the Millennium Woods, and the rain even stayed off!
Today we collected a variety of different leaves and once back in class we organised them into groups and used a key to help identify the tree that they belonged to. Our next step is to use Microsoft Excel to complete graphs to collate our information.
In teams we used the leaves to create art work inspired by Andy Goldsworthy. I am sure will agree they are fantastic!
Primary 6 and 7 were asked by the minister to contribute to the village poppy display by painting rocks with the names of all those who lost their lives fighting in World War 1 and World War 2. We then laid the stones around the war memorial.
We also created mix media Poppy art.
Today, primary 7 took part in East Ayrshire’s Annual Youth Conference which was delivered live through Teams. This conference included three workshops: Celebrating Diversity, Your Council Your Voice and Lockdown Mental Health. P7 had excellent contributions to the conference. As part of the final workshop pupils had to create a positive slogan that will spread happiness or motivate someone. They only had 20 minutes to complete the challenge. Take a look at some of our creations.
Last week P7 had a fun day celebrating Halloween in their costumes. They went outside to complete a Pumpkin Trail and played a game of Spooky Corners. In the afternoon, P7 used modelling clay to create spitfires as part of our World War 2 topic. We will paint these once fully dry next week.
We have had a day of fun celebrating Halloween. Lots of smiles and laughter. The children have enjoyed a Pumpkin Drive in class. They also made fabulous Roosting Bat pictures. Outside they played the Spooky Corners Game and completed our Pumpkin Trail . We rounded off our Mexico Topic with our Chilli Jelly Tasting Challenge and the movie Coco this afternoon.
