What a learning curve remote learning has been for teachers, pupils and parents/carers alike but this following video is testament to the amazing dedication and enthusiasm that you are all showing towards learning at home. Our children are creating wonderful work and demonstrating their learning and skills in so many different ways, I’m so proud of our wonderful LEARNING STARS!

Numeracy Help Sheets
We have all heard the phrase, “That is not how my teacher does it!” we have therefore created some numeracy help sheets to show you how we would encourage the children to set out their tasks.
Hopefully you will find this document useful.
Numeracy Parent/Carer Information Booklets
After feedback from Parent/carers we have created information booklets to give more clarity in some of the concepts covered in school with notes on how to lay out calculations and the language used when discussing numeracy with your child. These booklets cover a whole level which can take up to 3 years to cover so please be mindful of the stage your child is at and use the Numeracy Bookmarks that were sent home earlier in the session to guide you.

Numeracy and Maths Glossary
This glossary has been developed for parents and carers. This includes early learning and childcare through to 3rd year in secondary schools. It provides clear definitions of some of the commonly used terms in numeracy and mathematics. It is organised according to Curriculum for Excellence and includes images and diagrams to support the definitions. To access the glossary, please click here.
I am a Mathematician
Education Scotland has launched its ‘I am a mathematician’ resource to help parents and carers support their children’s learning with engaging activities to do at home. Evidence suggests that children’s enthusiasm can be affected by a lack of confidence. Parents and carers can play a vital role in reinforcing the importance of maths to their children, promoting a positive attitude towards it and making it a fun activity to do together as a family.
