Active Literacy-Phonics and Spelling

Across the session we introduce common words that the children need to know how to read and spell in order to support their reading and writing. These words are introduced and reinforced during literacy lessons and consolidated and assessed on a regular basis.

Please feel free to use the list to support learning at home and recap on the words they have learned in school (your child will be able to tell you which words they are learning each week). It is always beneficial to revisit previous word lists.

Dunlop’s Got Talent 2019

Last term we held Dunlop’s Got Talent 2019. There were a number of different acts all keen to show us what they could. We are always amazed at the range of talents our pupils have from singing to limbo! No matter what the the talent is,  it is the children’s confidence and enthusiasm that shines through and makes it one of our yearly highlights.

Primary 3 Massage

Thank you to all the parents who managed to come to our massage session.

If you didn’t make it please still ask your child to give you a massage, they are all experts.

P4 and P3 Social Dancing

Well it is that time of the year. We all remember it well. The children in Primaries 3 and 4 are really enjoying learning some Scottish Country  Dances in preparation for their Christmas Party.

They can already dance The Circle Waltz, The Canadian Barn Dance and The Military Two Step.

We have also had fun dancing these traditional dances to some modern music too.

We are really looking forward to our party.

Primary 3 Smelly Classroom

We had lots of fun investigating different smells.

Our classroom does not smell great today. We have some really disgusting smelling things in our bin.

Some smells were lovely, especially the chocolate but Mr Stewart will not be happy with the onion in our bin.

As you can see we liked some of the smells but not all of them.

Primary 3 Science Experiments

We have been having lots of fun with our senses topic.

We have been learning about the importance of our sight and how to keep our eyes protected. We also know The Creakers don’t like light so we designed glasses to protect their eyes from the sun. We tried them on to make sure they worked.

I am sure the children will have told you all about The Creakers and how much they like rubbish.  I hope you agree the children have designed super glasses to protect The Creakers and their own eyes from the sun.
