To complete our work on rounding to the nearest 1,000, the children produced rockets which show examples that round both up and down to their chosen number.

The children have been learning how to round numbers to the nearest 10, 100 and 1,000.
They completed a variety of tricky, but fun learning activities and were able to challenge themselves through these games.

Today we were creative with this weeks spelling words since it was our Halloween Fun Day.
We also had fun playing the Roll A Pumpkin Game and doing a hidden Halloween surprise drawing.
We finished our day with a little dance to the Monster Mash and Thriller. I am trying hard but my little video clip won’t share at the moment. Sorry.

Inspired by the work of artist Georgia O’Keeffe, the children created these stunning close up images of poppies using chalk pastels.
The pictures will be part of the Village Remembrance Day Display.

Wow! How amazing are these pictures. The children worked with oil pastels and blended with baby oil to get the spooky backgrounds. I love the vibrant colours.
They added ghosts, bats, twinkly stars and a bit of glitter glue to finish them off. Well done everyone.
We managed one of our favourite warm-up games “Hoola Hoop Battle” before the downpour came! Fun and laughter.

This is Dyslexia Awareness Week Scotland. We have been finding out what the challenges can be like for children and adults who have dyslexia.
The children tackled a decoding activity helping them understand the challenges faced by many dyslexic people with reading tasks. They were able to say how the activity made them feel and what they found difficult.
We watched video clips of children sharing their story of living with dyslexia and had an amazing discussion about how dyslexia is a learning ‘difference’ rather than a learning ‘difficulty’.
The children had fun trying to write a message with their non-dominant hand while standing up. Although we giggled a lot, they absolutely recognised how this might feel if copying from the board or a text was this difficult all the time.
Our activities were really valuable. Great job P5!
The children presented their posters to their own group so well today. They gave each other positive feedback and tips for next time. Super job everyone! Very proud teacher!
Today the children used their own key designs to create 5 and 6 digit numbers before interpreting each other’s creations. Great work everyone!
