This week in the mini forest it was all about the MUD!!! The children had lots of time to explore it and get stuck in to it. Mud fishing ,stirring and squelching around in it. They should great curiosity in its texture and the different ways they had to move in order not to lose a wellie in it. The weather also proved challenging and a shower of hailstones provided us with a talking point about ice. Games of hide and seek were popular as the children are becoming confident in their new surroundings .The children are gaining in confidence and happy to be involved in outdoor learning, They are dressing themselves a little better each week and could recall our safety rules . We look forward to continuing after our February break. regards Mrs Orr
Scottish Fortnight
The children have been taking part in a wide range of experiences in the ECC this fortnight. They have been exploring pattern in the craft area weaving and painting tartan and enjoying some Scottish dancing in the STEM room. We had a delicious Burns Supper on Friday which was enjoyed by children and staff alike. We were invited by P1, P2a and P2b to listen to the Scottish poems the primary children had been learning. (Well done to all the children) A big thank you to Mr Stewart for visiting the ECC to play the bagpipes for the children. The children in the ECC have also been learning The Three Craws and Ali Bali to sing at Fridays assembly. A very busy and productive couple of weeks.

Mini Forest week1 2020
Monday afternoon we started our new block of outdoor learning in the Mini Forest. We will be taking 10 children with us each week. The children firstly had to dress themselves and its not easy with all our waterproofs but they did a great job. Then it was outside to go over a few safety rules and then off to explore. Most of them wanted to go into a very muddy puddle for a splash about. They then choose to climb trees …finding their own level of risk, looking for a den and exploring their new surroundings .The found a branch to bounce on and talked about the different things they found including  a wriggly worm. It was a lovely start to learning and Mrs Gray  Ms McEwan and I are looking forward to each week ahead regards Mrs Orr
Bookbug Session
We would like to thank the parents whom were able to attend our ‘Bookbug’ session after ‘Stay and Play’ this morning. They worked alongside their children as we recited nursey rhymes, acted out the story of ‘The Three Pigs’ (Big thank yous to the three pigs) sang songs and worked with the lycra. The ‘Bookbug’ sessions are very interactive and children and staff have lots of fun each Friday morning.
As a staff team we would like to remind you that parents/carers are very welcome to attend our ‘Bookbug’ sessions on the last Friday of each month.

Scooter Tutor
Mrs Mack has been working with the am and pm children implementing Scooter Tutor. The children have been learning how to keep themselves safe when riding their scooters, how to put on the appropriate safety equipment and complete scooting tasks i.e. straight line, between obstacles. The children start the session with a fun warm up, before completing the tasks and then some fun free play scooting. The Scooter Tutor programme is extremely popular with the children and Mrs Mack will continue the programme for the rest of this week.
