The children have exploring a curious substance that feels both like a liquid and a solid, called gloop. (Cornflour and water) The children began this investigation inside the ECC before moving the tray into the outdoor area of the setting and using the gloop to mark make.

The children began by discussing the wet and dry ingredients “Dry is like the sun and wet is like the rain.” “It will mix together.” “Oh, wow it’s turning green.” They then added some insects into the mix and discussed their sizes “That’s much bigger than that spider.” “I have the smaller spiders, it’s a tiny baby one.” The children then used the insects to make tracks in the gloop, “It’s making a trail.”
