\/><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>RED TED ART:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Both my kids adore digging around in the garden and exploring \u2013 finding ants and beetles and worms and bugs. So I knew it wouldn\u2019t be long before we HAD to make a <em>simple Bug Hotel<\/em> with them \u2013 the perfect <a href=\"https:\/\/www.redtedart.com\/garden-crafts-challenge-get-crafty\/\">Garden Craft for kids<\/a> to get stuck into.<\/p>\n<p>Our <strong>easy bug hotel<\/strong> is probably as simple and as easy as it gets \u2013 there are many prettier and cleverer bug hotels out there, but sometimes, you just have to make do with what you have and also make it easy for the kids to join in.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>A large plastic bottle cut into two cylinders, <\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>sticks, <\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>pine cones, <\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>bark<\/em><\/li>\n<li>anything else you can find \u2013 bamboo with its holes is great too!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>We also had some broken plant pots but forgot all about them. Other bug hotels include other materials such as corn and drilled pieces of wood \u2013 to provide different nooks and crannies. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>But in essence, I would say: \u201cthink natural\u201d, \u201cthink nooks and crannies\u201d, \u201cthink what will last\u201d (e.g. paper could go soggy and leaves will go brittle and break\/ disintegrate).
