We were very busy today learning new games to work with out Primary 1 Buddies next year. Ross was very enthusiastic in explaining what we would be doing. Great fun for all.

Today Primary 6 were very busy using trundle wheels and measuring tapes in the school grounds.

Primary 6 had a challenge to build and measure the tallest or longest structure in just 4 minutes. They were using their STEM skills to create the structure then measuring and recording in mm and cm.

Primary 6 had a fantastic outing to Dumfries House today. We were taking part in a STEM project about Space. It fits in very nicely with the topic of Flight which we will be covering later this term.
We were very busy completing design challenges to construct a space craft which could launch a satellite into space to clean up some of the space junk surrounding our planet. After lunch we took the opportunity to test the adventure area ensuring everything worked properly.
We felt overall it was a FUNTASTIC DAY OUT.

Primary 6 are studying ‘Danny the Champion of the World’ by Roald Dahl. They have been given a STEM challenge to design and build a climbing frame for Danny. They are aware of costs and are having to record the resources used and work out a total price.

Primary 6 did a great job of remembering those who have given their lives in the great war. They went to the memorial to lay a wreath and did a performance at the school outlining the tragedy of “The Great War”.

We investigated various strategies for solving problems in Maths. We took written problems and used sums, pictures and diagrams to seek answers.

Today was the first of our Health and Wellbeing Focus days. We linked the change and loss experiences of returning soldiers and their families during WW1 to emotions and the vocabulary surrounding emotions. We later linked these emotions’ facial expressions and then colour in Andy Warhol type pictures. We also looked at the range of foods on the front line and recipes available for vegetables available from a Scottish garden.

The class were working on composing their own music today using correct notation and working with glockenspiels.

P6 worked with P2 today to plot points of interest on a map of Scotland and this was reproduced in the playground with chalk.

“Our class was learning about a magnificent artist called Charles Rennie McIntosh. He was very young interesting man. He created a lot of art work including a picture of a flower in a pot. He also born in Glasgow, Scotland.” Sean
