The narrative then becomes an exercise in escape and survival then defeating the \u2018monster\u2019 \u2014 Todorov: equilibrium\/disruption\/recognition\/resolution\/new equilibrium.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Characters<\/p>\n<p>Teenage heroes &#8211; Gray and Zach need to lose their caretaker Zara, then take off on their own in order to get into trouble. Why? To create\u00a0high interest\u00a0stakes in\u00a0the characters whose\u00a0 trip to the park is\u00a0shown and with whom\u00a0 the typical teenage\u00a0audience will most identify.<\/p>\n<p>Adult leads &#8211; Aunt Claire\u2019s desperate need to find the boys.\u00a0This<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>leads her to Owen for help, cementing together this\u00a0&#8220;opposites attract&#8221;\u00a0pair of characters. A bit of romance helps to sell tickets to adults. The damsel in distress is actually not that incapable &#8211; she&#8217;s a gutsy modern women who wears high heels while fighting dinosaurs!\u00a0But, having a brave man allows her to act to save the boys.<\/p>\n<p>The plot services the &#8220;showy&#8221; bits, the 3D dinosaurs.
