Feedback Friday

Thank you very much to the huge variety of activities you have posted on your Blog and emailed me since our last feedback post. I really loved seeing all the different activities you were all doing. Well done P5!

Here is a selection of the things you shared.

Eilidh worked on our White Rose Maths activities and active spell to revise her spelling words. Well done Eilidh!

Emma was very busy completing her addition and subtraction tasks. Great job Emma 🙂

Flynn tried out our Wildlife Trust Bird’s Nest challenge – well done 🙂

Harry learned how to make sawdust fire bricks with his dad, as well as celebrate his 10th birthday – Happy Birthday Harry!

Lily recreated McDonalds at her home and even had the headset for a drive through. She also was very kind and caring by preparing dinner with menus as a surprise ‘Date Night’ for her mum and dad! Well done Lily!

Luke has been busy with his addition and subtraction tasks and the White Rose Maths Fractions and Decimals tasks too – well done Luke!

Olivia successfully used her ‘Negative Number’ Number Talks strategy to solve this calculation – great job! Also, Olivia’s  butterflies have finally hatched from their chrysalises. A wonderful experience watching their lifecycle from caterpillar 🐛 to beautiful butterfly 🦋.

Sophie has been very busy completing her Learning Grid activities including the Roald Dahl comprehension, First News activities and challenging herself with the addition and subtraction activities. Well done Sophie! 🙂

A huge well done to all of you for putting so much effort into your Learning Grid activities and other tasks you are completing throughout the week. Thank you for taking the time to share these with me and I look forward to seeing your updates this week.

Mrs Kelly’s Check In 10/06/2020

Hello P5, I hope you are all having a good week and managing to spend some time outdoors too – I am hoping the nicer weather returns soon!

This week has been a busy week for me with work, homeschooling and planning for next term. However I have still made time to keep my fitness going and home cooking.

There was a beautiful view from our house last week when the sky seemed to change colour within five minutes, apparently it is known as strawberry moon.

My animals have been keeping me amused too – Daisy cat decided to help me work from home by sitting on my notes on the table; Smokey my stable cat found a cosy spot in my greenhouse and Penny dog was delighted to eventually be able to get her coat clipped as she was really struggling in the heat. However, it is not always fun and games having horses, I had to spend the weekend poo picking one of the paddocks – yuck!

Dylan has been very lucky this week with two gifts! Mrs Ross knows how big a football fan he is so she gave him some Liverpool goodies that she had and his Granny and Granpa got him a pool for the nice weather. I think he thought all his birthdays and Christmases had come at once!

And lastly but by no means least, I had great news from my good friend Emma. She passed her final exams and is now officially a vet. I am very proud and excited for her as she has worked so hard throughout high school and her five years at university. 🙂

I am looking forward to seeing all your updates this week.

Remember, the Sumdog challenges are on for both numeracy and spelling – 5 different tasks so remember to try them. Lots of changes on the leader board this week so far!

Take care,

Mrs Kelly 🙂

P5 Learning Grid 08/06/2020

Hello P5 and welcome to a new week 🙂

This week’s focus is RRSA. As you know, we are a Silver Rights Aware school and on our journey to Gold Rights Respecting. Children’s Rights don’t disappear just because we are on lock-down so, it is good to ensure we are all keeping our knowledge of Children’s Rights up to date.

As always, choose a selection of activities to complete and you can either send them to me via email or upload them onto your Blog by 12noon on a Friday for me to check.  If you are accessing YouTube, remember to get permission from your parents.

Sumdog activities link with the activities on the Learning Grid. The tasks will help revise your learning. These tasks run from Monday 9am to Thursday 3pm.

Your First News login details were emailed to your Glow email last week – please check there for access. Can I take this opportunity to remind you the aim is to complete quality work with full answers, please take your time with your answers and do not rush through lots of activities 🙂

Miss Dasgupta’s Expressive Arts Learning Grid focuses on Drama this week and can be accessed here.

Feedback Friday 05/06/2020

Happy Friday P5,

I hope you have all had a good week, lots of learning posted on your Blogs and emailed to me so, thank you very much.  I am awaiting the results of our final Sumdog competition for the week and I will add a post at lunchtime.

Sophie has had a very busy week. She has completed her schoolwork tasks from the Learning Grid, taken part in the egsoil lessons as well as some outdoor learning and keeping fit – keep up the great work!

Emma has been very busy trying to maintain her lead on the Sumdog challenges – successfully so far! Her family have been very busy on the farm collecting silage – I love seeing all the things we learned about in our farming topic in action!

Luke has been busy completing his First News tasks with the help of his cat!

Esme has been enjoying success on Sumdog – well done!

Luis has been busy completing his spelling tasks and other Learning Grid activities and he has shared an updated picture of his Aqua Dragons too!

Eilidh has been busy completing her Learning Grid activities too with success in her addition, spelling and First News activities. Eilidh also created a beautiful painted stone which I thought was very cheerful!

Mrs Kelly Update – 03/06/2020

Hello P5, welcome to Wednesday’s Check In. As always, I hope you are all well and enjoying some time in this glorious weather we have been having.

I decided to move my workstation outdoors this week as I was missing the lovely weather by working in my kitchen all day. Daisy cat was very interested in what I was doing and decided to join me! Our little baby bunny also brought a wee friend along to enjoy the grass in the garden. 🙂

I have been continuing to keep fit by doing my fitness class, zumba and walking. There was a lovely view from the top of the hill on my walk the other day and I also noticed a beautiful sunset out my window the other night. I really do think the nature around us is beautiful.

Dylan has been enjoying some outdoor learning and created an ice egg with flowers in it last week. He picked some flowers then froze them within an egg shell. Once it was frozen solid, he peeled the shell and this was the outcome. He has also been enjoying the sunshine and learning how to play the guitar – I usually have my ear plugs in when he is playing it! 🙂

Paddy and Buster have also been enjoying the sunny weather and their winter coats have gone to allow their nice shiny summer coats to come through. Buster was so hot the other day he decided to take matters into his own hands with the hose. I managed to get a little clip of it – click here.

I hope you all enjoy the remainder of your week. Remember to upload any work to your Blog or email me it by Friday. Check your emails for your new First News iHub login.

Take care,

Mrs Kelly 🙂

**FIRST NEWS**

Our week’s trial has finished for First News. I hope you enjoyed the articles and activities available. In order to continue using First News, I have signed us up for their iHub. I will be sending you log-in details to your Glow email over  the course of today with details on how to access the iHub too.

This means that you will now have access to the First News paper and the associated comprehensions, quizzes and puzzles.

Once you receive your log in, please check it works and have a try and let me know how you get on.

Mrs Kelly 🙂

**Reminder**

Hi P5,

A couple of points I would like to remind you of:

  1. All work completed should be uploaded by a Friday 12noon for comments and feedback from me. This can be done at any time during the week to either your Blog or Email.
  2. If you are accessing Youtube for any of your work, remember to have permission from an adult and watch the content with an adult present.
  3. Blog posts can accessed in the same way we did when we were at school. I have attached below some screen shots as a reminder:

Primary 5 Learning Grid 01/06/2020

Hello P5, welcome to a new week and it is June! I cannot believe how quickly lock-down has been passing. It feels like a very long time since we were last altogether. I hope you all continue to be well and your families too.

Here is this week’s learning grid. Remember to upload your work onto your blog or send me a copy via email. For those who did not respond to last week’s email check-in , please check your Glow emails and reply.

This week’s grid does have a large numeracy booklet on fractions – this is to consolidate your knowledge and I DO NOT expect you to complete it all – unless you particularly want to. A selection of activities to help you revise is more than enough.

I would also like to remind you not to worry if you are still working on a previous week’s learning activities, that is absolutely fine and just work through activities at your own pace.

This week’s learning grid can be found here.

Resources you will require for this week are:
