Today, P5 were using their baking skills and knowledge about Fairtrade to create Scotch Pancakes using Fairtrade ingredients where possible.
Our Process:
- Wash our hands.
- Clean our workstation.
- Weigh and Measure our ingredients.
- Sieve 200g flour into a bowl.
- Add 40g sugar.
- Crack and add 1 egg.
- Pour in milk and stir … lots!!!
- Add to the hot plate, flip (carefully).
- Wait until cooler and add a topping.
Our Fairtrade Price:
- Flour – £0.50
- Sugar – £0.80
- Eggs – £1.00
- Milk – £0.80
- 2xBananas – £0.40
- Chocolate Chips – £0.90
This made 2 pancakes each = 36 pancakes
£4.40 ÷36=12p per pancake
We realised that just by making our Scotch Pancakes we have used skills in:
- Health & Wellbeing
- Numeracy
- Literacy
- Digital Technologies
- Global Goals – Zero Food Waste
P5 began their cricket lessons today. Everyone enjoyed learning some new skills.
P5 tried out Story Mapping today to support them in planning their imaginative story we have been working on over the past few writing sessions.
Mrs Kelly is looking forward to reading the final versions!
P5 were delighted to start their second foreign language today and welcomed Jing, our Mandarin teacher, from Loudoun Academy to our class.
The pupils, and Mrs Kelly, learned some Mandarin greetings and some of the symbols used to write in Mandarin.
Tomorrow we are going to try and answer our register using our new skills.
Today P5 were calculating fractions of amounts using natural materials.
We used cones, shells, pebbles and wood to calculate fractions. We used our knowledge of grouping and arrays to show this.
Today we were learning about the physical features of Scotland and its landscape. We then used our knowledge to research the physical features which can be found on the Isle of Arran.
During our research we discovered that Arran is also known as ‘Mini Scotland’. If you see one of our P5 classmates, ask us why it is known as that and we will explain.
