Chinese New Year
We have loved learning about Chinese New Year. We have been learning about and creating our own dragon dances, painting dragons and making fans. The class worked together to make a giant dragon’s head which we will use when performing our dragon dance.
We even make vegetable stir fry noodles using our bridge and claw grips when learning to chop the vegetables safely. The vegetable stir fry was a huge success.
The Chinese Restaurant role-play area has been a favourite in the class too this week.
Shortbread
We continued to learn about Scottish and Scottish traditions by following a recipe to make shortbread. P1 listened to Immersive Reader on word read the recipe aloud for them to follow.
It’s party time!
P1 had a fantastic time at their party this afternoon and had a special visitor deliver some presents.
Christmas ECC Transition Event
Our ECC children visited the P1 classroom as part of the transition programme. They visited at Halloween and then have enjoyed this second visit in December.
P1 pupils acted as buddies and showed and played with the ECC children in the different areas in our classroom.
Santa’s Workshop
P1 planned what they would like to have in their Santa’s Workshop.
With the help of some P5 pupils, P1 made labels and signs for the new role play area. The class cannot wait to start playing in it!
Gruffalo Tea Party
We practised cutting bread and spreading butter to make a cheese sandwich for our Gruffalo Tea Party.
Handwashing
P1 listened to a story about handwashing and how and when we should wash our hands.
We did a ‘Glitter Bug’ experiment to see how easy it was to pass bugs and germs from one person’s hands to another.
After this, we all then practised washing our hands correctly.
Bookbug Activity and Gifting Session
As part of Book Week Scotland, we had a fantastic afternoon sharing the contents of the P1 Bookbug Bag, listening to one of the stories and completing an activity session.
Mrs Conetta shared the story, The Station Mouse and then P1 pupils worked with their grown-ups or buddies to complete the Maurice the Mouse challenge they had been given. To end the session, Mrs Davidson gifted the pupils with their Bookbug Bags.
