P1 learnt to take photos on the iPads. They were to take photos of different things in the classroom that used a push, a pull and a twist force.
They then used PicCollage to show the photos they had taken.

In groups, P1 visited some classes to do a favourite fruit survey. They used some of the fruit from Handa’s Surprise as their choices. They collected the information in tally marks and then displayed the information in a pictograms.
We learn about the importance of Shrove Tuesday to Christians and make pancakes in class.
As this is Fairtrade Fortnight, we made the pancakes using Fairtrade ingredients and thanks Sainsburys for donating the ingredients we used to make the pancakes and our yummy toppings!
We love making our own subtraction calculations and using our ten trains to help us.
We have loved learning about Chinese New Year. We have been learning about and creating our own dragon dances, painting dragons and making fans. The class worked together to make a giant dragon’s head which we will use when performing our dragon dance.
We even make vegetable stir fry noodles using our bridge and claw grips when learning to chop the vegetables safely. The vegetable stir fry was a huge success.
The Chinese Restaurant role-play area has been a favourite in the class too this week.
We love Active Start in P1. Every morning P1 come in and choose their morning activity – this week the focus is on literacy. Activities included
P1 have been creating their our tartan kilts as part of the pattern learning and also their Scottish Fortnight.
As part of our Scottish fortnight, P1 went for a walk in the village to locate and draw landmarks.
We have been exploring pattern this week. We have been copying, continuing and creating our own patterns! Activities this week included – threading beads, pattern cards, stickers, stampers, bingo dabbers.
Our ECC children visited the P1 classroom as part of the transition programme. They visited at Halloween and then have enjoyed this second visit in December.
P1 pupils acted as buddies and showed and played with the ECC children in the different areas in our classroom.
