P1 love sharing their own writing with the class. Today we wrote a sense poem about what Handa might see, feel, taste, hear and smell.
This week we have been exploring our senses.
We enjoyed feeling and smelling our ‘mint’ and ‘cocoa’ playdough. Good enough to eat, but we all resisted!
We used our eyes to look for this week’s common words in books from the library.
We got to taste a range of fruits from the story Handa’s Surprise and talked about words to describe the taste.
We have been reading, The Very Hungry Caterpillar in class. The class had to think where the butterfly might fly to after coming out of the cocoon. We went outside and in groups took photos on the iPads of where the butterfly might go around the playground.
We shared the photos back in the classroom and used the ideas to help inspire our writing.
Wow, what fun was had at the Primary 1 Ceilidh. The children hosted a Ceilidh for family and friends. Pupils performed Scottish songs, dances and a poem. The grown-ups even joined in for some dancing before we all sat down to sample some Scottish food.
“We had to pour the ingredients into the bowl.”
“We mixed the ingredients together to make a dough.”
“We rolled out the shortbread dough.”
“We cut them into circles.”
“Then they went in the oven.”
The boys and girls and their families cannot wait to taste the shortbread at the Primary 1 Ceilidh!
