In consultation with pupils and staff, we are trialling a period of having NO school bells ringing throughout the school day.<\/p>\n
Normally, the school bell rings 8 times every day and it can be quite overwhelming for some pupils as it is very loud in certain areas of the school.<\/p>\n
Staff in the playground will inform pupils that it is time to line up, and pupils in P1 to P4 should line up as usual.\u00a0 Pupils in P5-P7 are not lining up – their entrance door will be opened by staff and they should enter the school in a free flow manner.<\/p>\n
We find that this is resulting in pupils entering the school in a more calm and settled manner, meaning that they are better prepared to start their learning.<\/p>\n
We have trialled this system over the past three Fridays and it has gone very well so we’re now trialling it for a longer period of time.\u00a0 We will seek feedback from staff, pupils and parents to see if having NO school bells should become a permanent fixture.<\/p>\n
