{"id":8419,"date":"2025-03-18T15:19:44","date_gmt":"2025-03-18T15:19:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/ea\/catrinepsmain2019\/?p=8419"},"modified":"2025-03-18T15:19:44","modified_gmt":"2025-03-18T15:19:44","slug":"no-school-bells","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/ea\/catrinepsmain2019\/2025\/03\/18\/no-school-bells\/","title":{"rendered":"NO School Bells"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In consultation with pupils and staff, we are trialling a period of having NO school bells ringing throughout the school day.<\/p>\n<p>Normally, the school bell rings 8 times every day and it can be quite overwhelming for some pupils as it is very loud in certain areas of the school.<\/p>\n<p>Staff in the playground will inform pupils that it is time to line up, and pupils in P1 to P4 should line up as usual.\u00a0 Pupils in P5-P7 are not lining up &#8211; their entrance door will be opened by staff and they should enter the school in a free flow manner.<\/p>\n<p>We find that this is resulting in pupils entering the school in a more calm and settled manner, meaning that they are better prepared to start their learning.<\/p>\n<p>We have trialled this system over the past three Fridays and it has gone very well so we&#8217;re now trialling it for a longer period of time.\u00a0 We will seek feedback from staff, pupils and parents to see if having NO school bells should become a permanent fixture.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks, Mrs Govans<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In consultation with pupils and staff, we are trialling a period of having NO school bells ringing throughout the school day.
