{"id":341,"date":"2020-04-28T08:27:19","date_gmt":"2020-04-28T08:27:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/ea\/catrinepsmain2019\/?p=341"},"modified":"2020-04-28T08:28:24","modified_gmt":"2020-04-28T08:28:24","slug":"headteachers-challenge-11","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/ea\/catrinepsmain2019\/2020\/04\/28\/headteachers-challenge-11\/","title":{"rendered":"Headteacher&#8217;s Challenge #11"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Good morning and welcome to Tuesday \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>Just before the schools closed in mid-March we held another very successful Scholastic Book Fayre and we talked at assembly about the importance of reading in our everyday lives &#8211;\u00a0in school, at home and when we&#8217;re out and about.<\/p>\n<p>In your Home Circles we listed some reasons why it&#8217;s so important that we learn to read \u2026<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>&#8216;to fill in job and college applications&#8217;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>&#8216;to read bus, train and plane timetables&#8217;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>&#8216;to read texts and emails from friends and family&#8217;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>&#8216;to do our jobs properly when we&#8217;re working&#8217;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>and my most favourite answer EVER<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>&#8216;to be able to read bedtime stories to our weans when we are mums and dads&#8217;.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>So, today&#8217;s Challenge is &#8211; to share\/read a book with someone.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>You can choose to read a book aloud to someone in your family, or you can take turns to read a page aloud\u00a0each, or you can read the book yourself and then encourage someone else to read it so that you can discuss it together later.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Find a nice, comfy, quiet place and time, get cuddled in and simply enjoy reading your book.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>I would love to see some photos of the book you&#8217;re sharing with your families.<\/p>\n<p>When my two boys (now aged 16 and 11) were wee, their favourite books were &#8216;Rumble in the Jungle&#8217; and &#8216;Charlie Cook&#8217;s Favourite Book&#8217; &#8211; I&#8217;ve still got these books and I&#8217;m going to read them aloud today and I just know that they will enjoy hearing me reading these books (even though they might pretend that they&#8217;re not listening \u2026)<\/p>\n<p>As always, stay safe, take care and keep in touch.\u00a0 Mrs Govans x<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-334\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/ea\/catrinepsmain2019\/files\/2020\/04\/A6206880-F13C-415D-A5E8-3A3E749503E3-169x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"169\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Good morning and welcome to Tuesday \ud83d\ude42 Just before the schools closed in mid-March we held another very successful Scholastic Book Fayre and we talked at assembly about the importance of reading in our everyday lives &#8211;\u00a0in school, at home and when we&#8217;re out and about.
