This week primary 2/3 are focusing on adjectives. We are using this skill to enhance our writing by adding interesting vocabulary. We have used substitution to up level these sentences in groups. Some of the metaphors used and vocabulary is fantastic! Well done P2/3.
The children have been enjoying some of our new literacy activities and were keen to share them on our blog. We have been using the listening post as a new literacy activity, silly sentences to practise punctuation as well as highlighting to identify spelling word in sentences.
Primary 2/3 enjoyed tasting the jelly they made for our book focus. We had raspberry, strawberry and orange flavour. The children voted and none of them tasted of pea (like the one in the story) but they definitely like the orange flavour the best although all the plates were clear in less than 5 mins.
Primary 2/3 had a fun afternoon creating the characters from Supertato. We have Carrot covered in plasters, Cucumber wrapped in toilet roll, Broccoli drawn all over, The Evil Pea and our star Supertato in his lovely red cape. The children enjoyed creating our characters and will be using them to create a short film in their groups to recreate the story. Well done P2/3 your characters have some great details!
As well as learning all about Tennis, primary 2/3 have had some inputs from Tesco Bank Football during our P.E lessons. The children are always keen to take part in football, here are some of the photos the children took during our lesson today.

Today we have been learning all about Place Value and we have been using Heinemann Active Maths to enhance our learning. Her are some pictures of the children participating in activities to help them learn all about tens and units and the importance of zero. We are hoping to move onto hundreds tens and units next week. Some of the activities we have enjoyed were: Bingo, Place Value Throw and ipads.
We celebrated World Book Day yesterday by dressing up as our favourite character. Primary 2/3 had a fun day celebrating books by having a book scavenger hunt and other literacy activities. Well done to the children who won our competition and to all the children who took part!
After a large clear out one of our pupils decided: “Don’t throw this out, I have a good idea!” and so we introduce: The Declan Wheel (named after the P2/3 designer.) Instead of boring unused spinners, Declan has created sounds spinners and we have invented a new literacy game for the children to play. What a wonderful idea, well done!
Primary 2/3 would like to share our learning. We have been engaging with active literacy to learn our spelling words and to practice our sounds. We use play-do and lego to build our words and help us with letter formation, we also like to play SPLAT! I hope you like our pictures, we will update you with more recent literacy pictures soon.
