Easter Chicks

A staggering £99.00 has been raised so far from selling “Easter Chicks”. The last day to purchase a chick  will be Thursday 28 March. Primary 7 would like to thank everyone who has already purchased one. A special thanks to Mrs Goudie for making our “chicks”.

There are still a few left to purchase. So hurry ………………

All About the Lungs!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Both Primary 6 and Primary 2/3 have been learning all about the human body through their topic and decided to team up to learn all about the lungs. Primary 6 had previously been learning about the respiratory system and brought along their fantastic lung diagrams to teach P2/3 what they had learned. They then paired up to make their very own paper bag lungs, which turned out great. Teamwork makes the dream work!

A HUGE Thank you

What a wonderful morning at Catrine Primary School. Thanks to our team of enthusiastic and experienced volunteers – all 210 saplings are now planted! This could not have been achieved without the generous donation of their time and expertise. Every pupil and member of staff at Catrine Primary School were involved in the planting process and we look forward to our school environment blossoming over the coming months and years.

Special thank you to: Tam McKinnon, Tracy Smith, Mike Morgan, Christine Muir, Kate Bremner, Scott Grieve, Derek Templeton, Graham Sharp, Billy McKinnon, Jason Donnelly and Meg Sharp, Jordan McLean and Kaye Hannah from Auchinleck Community Development Initiative for their time and expertise.

Heartstart

P2/3 have been learning all about the human body. This week we focussed on the heart, its functions and how to keep it healthy.

We were lucky enough to have Mrs Watt come along and demonstrate Heartstart CPR. We learned about what to do in an emergency situation and even got a chance to practise on the dummies. Take a look!

Tree Planting – Friday 15 March

All children will be involved in planting our 210 saplings on Friday 15 March. Each class is timetabled to work alongside our volunteers throughout the morning. Pupils should come appropriately dressed e.g., casual clothes, warm jacket and wellington boots. We are looking forward to working together to create a quality outdoor learning environment for years to come.

Online Safety – Advice from East Ayrshire Council

ADVICE FOR PARENTS/CARERS

A dangerous online game called “MOMO” is targeting children on social media. It instructs children to do dangerous tasks and a disturbing character threatens them with violence, if these are not done. Please be vigilant, make sure your child’s device is set up safely and encourage them to report anything they see online that scares or worries them. #eastayrshire #internetsafety #OnlineSafety

Ordering of School Lunches

Please ensure you order your child’s lunch on ParentPay in advance. 10% of children did not order today, therefore they didn’t receive their preferred choice of meal. If you have any difficulty in ordering your child’s meal, please contact the school office on 01290 551436 or in person.

Thank you.

Questionnaire 2 – February 2019

Parent/Carer Questionnaire

At Catrine PS we are constantly looking for ways to improve our school to ensure that we deliver the best possible learning and teaching experiences for our pupils.   We recognise the importance of the views and opinions of parents/carers, so each month we will post a short questionnaire on GLOW.

It would be much appreciated if you could complete the questionnaire. All responses will be anonymous.  We will display the results of each questionnaire on GLOW so that you are kept up to date with our priorities for improvement.  Our pupils will also complete the same questionnaire in their House groups during our Home Circle time.

Homework is an established part of school life. In order to ensure homework is enhancing your child’s learning and progress, we would appreciate if you could complete the short survey.

Please complete by Wednesday 20 February.
