Gold Sport Award Presentation

Kevin Ferguson, a representative from Sport Scotland, recently visited Catrine to present the Sports Committee with their Gold Sport Award. He awarded us with a flag and plaque to display in school, and  congratulated the staff and pupils for their hard work and commitment to sport.

Currently, only 3 schools in East Ayrshire have been awarded gold, including Catrine. Nationally, Catrine PS is 1 of 154 schools to have a Gold Sport Award, which is less than 8% of all primary schools in Scotland.

Well done again to all involved- what a fantastic achievement!

Gold Sport Award!

I am very excited to announce that we have been awarded a Gold Sport Award from Sport Scotland!

The School Sport Award is a national initiative which encourages schools to continuously improve physical education and sport. Last session, our sport committee worked hard to come up with ways we could make PE and sport better in Catrine. We introduced these ideas and gathered evidence to submit to Sport Scotland.

The gold award recognises the hard work of our staff and pupils, as well as our commitment to providing young people with a range of valuable experiences and opportunities in physical education, sport and leadership.

A representative from Sport Scotland will be coming into school to present us with our award soon!

Catrine Sports Week

Catrine’s sports week is almost here!

It will take place next week, from Tuesday 30th May- Friday 2nd June. The purpose of this week is to promote the importance of physical activity, give children the opportunity to try new sports and to inspire them to take part in sporting activities. The week will include talks from professional sports people and workshops in different sports.

As they will be participating in various activities each day, children are encouraged to come to school dressed in sports wear in order to save time. It would be appreciated if children could still wear their school polo shirt, along with trainers, shorts or tracksuit bottoms.

Thank you for your cooperation. I hope to see you at our sports afternoon on 2nd June, which I’m sure will be an exciting end to a great week!
