To help raise money for school funds, all pupils will be completing a Sponsored Silence on Wednesday 9th October.
P1, P2 and P3 pupils will aim for 30 minutes silence, with P4 to P7 pupils trying to keep quiet for 45 minutes!
The Harvest Hush-In will take place in class, between 11.00 a.m. and 12.00 p.m. The pupils will read books and complete activities related to reading. Pupils are invited to bring in their favourite book from home to read, or can choose a book from their class library.
Our School Fund is well used throughout the year – for instance, to help reduce transport costs for school trips and visits.
As we are now a cashless school, donations for the Harvest Hush-In should be made on ParentPay. When you log into your ParentPay account, you will see a Harvest Hush-In notification. On ParentPay the amount defaults to £1.00. However, please note that you are able to change this amount and contribute any amount – any donation gratefully received! Please do not send cash into the school. This means that we don’t need individual sponsor sheets. Please contact the school if you would like any more information, and thank you for your continued support.
All staff at Catrine Primary School are looking forward to a lovely, quiet morning on 9th October!
The school will be closed on Friday 20th and Monday 23rd September. There is also an in-service day on Tuesday 24th September. The children will start back on Wednesday 25th September at 9.00 a.m.
Have a lovely holiday!

Last year, we introduced Massage in Schools Programme in each class throughout the school. Our staff are trained MIS practitioners, and we aim to continue building upon the positive start we made by ensuring Massage in Schools becomes part of our weekly Health and Wellbeing Curriculum, as part of the Scottish Attainment Challenge to improve the health and wellbeing of pupils.

P2 had a lovely morning at The Institute making lots of delicious food. We made ‘Rainbow Pizza’ using healthy ingredients such as tomatoes, peppers, onions and broccoli! We then got to make some very tasty cookies.
As part of the Connecting Generations project our pupils will be visiting the Institute to take part in a variety of activities such as cooking and weaving.
Each class from P2 to P7 will make five visits throughout the year. The visits will take place on a Friday morning.
Please check the timetable below to see what dates your child will be involved. Please ensure your child has appropriate clothing for the weather as they will be walking to and from the Institute. Pupils should also take a snack.
Pupils must have returned their permission form for the walks around Catrine to take part in these visits.

For Health & Safety reasons Catrine Primary School would like to promote an awareness that children within the school have food allergies and intolerances, including severe nut allergies. Please ensure that your child does not bring any food/snacks which contain nuts into our school e.g.,
- monkey nuts, nutella chocolate spread, or chocolate bars containing nuts
Thank you for your support in this important H&S matter. Please contact the school office if you require any further information.
Please note that if your child is going home for their lunch, you MUST provide the school with a note.
Your child will receive their flu vaccine forms today issued from NHS. The date for the flu immunisations at Catrine Primary School is Friday 1 November. NHS have timescales to adhere to in relation to ordering vaccines etc. and due to limited resources they are not always able to visit a school more than once to collect forms. Therefore, all completed forms MUST be returned to the school by Wednesday 11 September.
If you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
We are nearly at the end of a great first week at Catrine Primary School. To give you a chance to meet your child’s new teacher and to see around their new classroom, we are having drop-in sessions on Wednesday 4 September:
8.45 a.m. – 9.15 a.m.
2.30 p.m. – 3.00 p.m.
Please note this is an informal session – you will be able to discuss your child’s progress with their teacher during the Parents’ day/night in October.
We hope you are able to join us.
NHS Scotland recommends primary school children get the flu vaccine every year. It’s given as a painless nasal spray at school. The vaccine is the best way to protect your child against flu.
