Well Done Primary 2!

It looks like we have been having a great time learning from home, making, creating, getting outside and spending time with our families. Thank you to everyone who has shared their learning with me, I love seeing what you are up to.  I am so proud of you all, as always! I have added some of the pictures to a slideshow below. Missing you all!

Miss McLean

Hello P2 from Miss McLean

Good morning Primary 2!

It has been great to see lots of you have been playing games on your SumDog and ReadingWise accounts!

I have allocated a SumDog 2x Table challenge that you might like to try out!

Your SumDog accounts will also be updated with your own spelling words from your grid but remember you could choose to do another spelling activity such as rainbow spelling, diacritical marking, pyramid spelling or even be a text detective and see if you can spot your words in a book!

(all children should have a copy of their own spelling grid, however, some were left in homework bags in the class before the school closure. If you do not have yours I can email you a copy!)

Remember that we are learning all the time and it is important that you spend time with your family, playing and doing your favourite things.

You could even try out Mrs Govans’ Head Teacher Challenge? Or try and complete one of the Lego Challenges below?

Whatever you get up to, remember you can keep me updated on by posting on your Glow Blog or by emailing me. I would love to hear from you.

Take Care,

Miss McLean

School/ECC to Home Communication

With regards to the ongoing COVID-19 situation this is a reminder that all communications from school and ECC will be done via:

  • school APP – ECC/primary school
  • GLOW – ECC/primary school
  • ParentPay email (primary school only)

It is important that parent/carers check these communication channels on a daily basis to ensure that you are kept up to date with East Ayrshire Council’s latest updates.

If you currently don’t have access to any of the above, please contact Catrine Primary School office who will help you.

Thank you.

Mrs Govans

‘Snow’ Stopping Us!

P2 and P5/6 braved the wintery weather this morning to litter pick around the village.  After collecting the litter they weighed it all and were amazed to discover that they had collected 23.4kg of rubbish. That’s about the same weight as two 5-year-olds!

Thanks to Tam McKinnon for providing the litter pickers, bags and gloves and for keeping up safe whilst litter picking.

Our Values are – Ambition, Determination, Fairness, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Teamwork.

We would appreciate your views on what Respect means to you and your family.

Responses will be collated and displayed around our school and ECC to show a shared understanding of our Catrine Values from all stakeholders – pupils, parents and staff.

Thank you.

Catrine PS and ECC – Vision, Values and Aims

We regularly highlight our Vision, Values and Aims with our pupils in both our school and ECC through a variety of activities, and our pupils have a good understanding of what they mean and how we apply them at Catrine PS and ECC.  Through monthly GLOW questionnaires, we ask parents/carers for their opinions and comments about our school and ECC, and their responses are always very much appreciated. As a staff, we annually review our Vision, Values and Aims and have collaborated to produce a poster detailing them, which will be a reference point for future discussions with our pupils, and for our priorities moving forward.  Our Vision, Values and Aims poster highlight our priorities and give examples of how we put them into action in our establishments.

I’m proud to present you with our new Vision, Values and Aims poster which will be proudly displayed in both our school and ECC.

Coming soon – our new Curriculum Rationale.

P2 HOMEWORK

A reminder that there will be no new spelling words this week. Instead, children have been asked to practise their Scots Poem – ‘The Gruffalo’ at home. You may wish to practise some previous spelling words that your child has found tricky.

Nut Allergy

As we have pupils with severe nut allergies, can all parents/carers ensure that pupils DO NOT bring in food for snacks/packed lunches that contain nuts or traces of nuts. The health and well-being of our pupils is a main priority, and we much appreciate your support in keeping our children safe.

Please contact the school office for any further information.

Thank you.

P1 and P2 Christmas party

Primary 1 and 2 had a wonderful time at our Christmas party. We all had a chance to show off our moves as we danced to our favourite Christmas songs. We then enjoyed a snack before playing some games and taking part in Ceilidh dancing.

We were in for a big surprise as Santa came to visit our party! We even got a chance to meet him in his grotto and received a lovely gift!
