Transition

Our transition visits from ECC to P1 began this week. The ECC children enjoyed exploring the classroom, participating in kids Zumba, designing their coat peg picture and drawing their buddies on the Promethean board.

Primary 1 children and the buddies did an amazing job ensuring the ECC children had a lovely warm welcome and felt included.

P7 Dolphin House Trip

Primary 7 pupils are very excited and looking forward to their residential trip to Dolphin House next week. The pupils have worked together to design and paint a flag which will be flown during their stay at Dolphin House. They have made a great job of this and the finished flag looks great.

Look out for daily updates next week to see what the pupils are getting up to!

A few reminders:

Pupils should arrive at the school on Monday for 9.00am dressed in appropriate clothing for outdoor activities.  Parents are welcome to stay and wave them off.

Pupils will return by 3.00pm on Thursday.  Mrs Schendel will inform the school when we leave Dolphin House (approximately 2pm) and a text will be sent to let parents know the expected time of arrival back at school. Parents are welcome to come and collect their child, otherwise pupils will be dismissed as usual at 3pm.

Please pack for the weather!  We WILL be outside so plenty of layers and warm clothes and socks are advisable.  See attached kit list to help with your packing.

P5/ STEM Activities

Next week P5/6 will be working alongside our STEM champion George Burns in an electric lorry building task.

The challenge is part of a National STEM challenge and requires the use of different tools to construct the frames and create the vehicles.  George will demonstrate the safe use of equipment, such as saws and bench grips prior to the task.

If you have any concerns about your child using tools as part of this STEM activity, please contact the school office.

We can’t wait to share our creations with you!

Cyber Safety

As part Internet Safety Day P5/6 have been chatting about how to protect their identify online.  They looked at the different apps, games and sites that are used by everyone and how much about your own identity is shared by having a profile or account.

As part of the  Internet Safety Day initiative they completed the East Ayrshire Avatar competition. Check out our three winners’ designs. Aren’t they great? They were created by Neve, Sophie-Kate and Madison.
