Today P5/6 had a visitor named Mrs. Harkins from RAD Ltd she showed us that all the work we do on graphs actually do help when in a job. We got to create graphs and charts on the computers. The first was how many people in the class including teachers. She showed us how to put this information into charts such as bar graphs and pie charts. The second was a shopping list, she showed us a way to get answers without adding up using formulas. By Sophie and Hollie. Please take time and have a look at some of our charts:

Christmas Jumper Day
The whole school is taking part in Willowbank School’s visual Christmas card. Willowbank is an SEN school in Kilmarnock and some of their pupils use Makaton sign-language to communicate. Both Catrine P.S. and ECC are enjoying learning the Makaton signs for several lines of the song “The Twelve Days of Christmas” to be included in their Christmas message. We will be filming our lines on Thursday 5 December and aim to look the part by wearing our Christmas jumpers. Once Willowbank school have completed their visual Christmas card – we will share with you!

Active Boys Day
After the success and enjoyment of active girls day we decided at Catrine to continue with an active boys day and what a day it was!
All classes participated in football, rugby, gymnastics and basketball which was led by the primary 7 boys 🙂
It was great to see all the boys in the school engaged in sport with some even trying new sports.
A huge thank you to the primary 7 boys who were a fantastic hand today. They were great role models for all pupils providing support to those who needed it!
Until next time 🙂

BBC Children in Need
The pupils and staff at Catrine Primary dressed in bright and spotty clothes and had crazy hair last Friday to raise money for Children in Need and Cash for Kids. We managed to raise £65 through ParentPay donations, with a further £32 raised by staff who sponsored a duck in the Children in Need Annual Duck Race. Well done to Primary 7 for organising the event and to all of the staff and pupils who donated!
Gift
Catrine PS were delighted to be presented with an original painting of Catrine Mill, created by the members of the Art in Action Group in Catrine. The painting depicts the Old Mill in Catrine, and was drawn by Mr William Murdoch and painted by members of the Art Group, which meets in the AM Brown Institute every Thursday from 1.00-3.00pm.
As an iconic part of Catrine’s industrial history, the painting of the Old Mill will be proudly displayed in the Primary School, and the school is very grateful for such a kind and thoughtful gesture.
