Primary 1/2 had great fun learning all about the life of those working and living at the Mill in New Lanark. We got to look inside the old houses where lots of people had to share the 1 room. After that we went on the Annie McLeod ride and visited the old classrooms. We even managed to fit in a wee visit to the park.

My 1980s Booklet: Homework Task
The school is celebrating it’s 50th anniversary this year and each class is researching a specific decade. Our class is finding out about the 1980s. Over the next 2 weeks, we would like you to help your child to research and create a 1980s booklet. You can use pictures, drawings, facts, computer print outs, the choice is yours. The front cover should be designed with ‘My 1980’s Booklet’ title. Please let me know if you require more paper/equipment etc.
Due date: Friday 18th May
Thanks again for your help.

P2/3 had a wonderful day at New Lanark. We were taken back in time to experience what life would have been like as a child working in the mill. We then got to find out more about schooling and living conditions. We couldn’t believe how many people lived in one room! Or where people used to do the toilet!
We then enjoyed lunch and were amazed by the Annie McLeod experience. We finished off our day outside at the play park. What a great day 👍🏻😀
Last Friday Primary 3/4/5 visited the Cevic Centre to learn about plants. We went out into the garden and planted pumpkins and beans and we created pictures of our dream garden.
Primary 6/7 were very excited during their trip to New Lanark. They first enjoyed exploring the school house and how life was for the school children at the mill. Next we had lunch and after that we went on the Annie McLeod experience ride. It took us on a virtual journey through the life and work of Annie. Finally we went on a guided tour, where we were all told many interesting facts about the life and times of Robert Owen the mill owner.
Primary 5/6 had a great time at New Lanark this week when they went back in time to find out what life would have been like in a working mill. They visited the Robert Owen School for Children, learned lots on a guided tour of the mill and particularly enjoyed the Annie McLeod ride. It was an excellent day!
Primary 3/4/5 had a fantastic time visiting New Lanark on Wednesday. We went on the Annie MacLeod Experience and discovered what it would be like to be a child working in the Mill. They started working when they were only ten years old. We were amazed to find out that a family of ten people would all live in one room together called a Single End. In the old school house, we had great fun trying on costumes and imagining what it would be like to go to school back then. It was a wonderful trip, full of valuable learning experiences and as always, the children were very well behaved and a real credit to the school.
The school is closed on Monday 7th May and will re-open on Tuesday 8th May. I hope everyone has a lovely long weekend.
