Stay and Learn Maths Open Morning – Monday 5th February 9am-10.15am

You are invited to come along to the primary school on Monday 5th February from 9am to 10.15am to join your child in one of their maths lessons.  You will have the opportunity to experience some of the fantastic activities your child does on a daily basis and gain an understanding of our Active Maths approach.  Mr Robert McCallum, our Scottish Attainment Challenge Numeracy Education Manager, will also be here to talk about positive mindsets to maths.

Infant Playground – change to access

Due to building works in our school, our infant gates will be locked at 3.00pm today for safety reasons.

P1 and P2 pupils will exit from the Main Doors at 3.00pm, so parents/carers should wait in the main playground to collect them.

The building work will probably continue tomorrow as well, so the infant playground gates will be locked in the morning – P1 and P2 pupils should come in through the main gates to enter the school via the Main Doors.

Thanks – Mrs Govans

STEM challenge: 3D Castles

With the help of George Burns, a local engineer, P3/4/5 have been learning about Scottish castles.  We worked in groups to use old materials to plan and create a 3D castle, with working drawbridge and crest design.  We had to work together, solve problems and use our imaginations and creativity to produce our models.

The judges had the very difficult job of choosing the winners, but the winning castle was created by Erin, Hollie and Abbie.  Well done girls but I’m sure you’ll agree it was a very tough to decide as all the pupils worked extremely hard on their project.  Well done to everyone!

We need your help!

We are planning an event to celebrate 50 years of Catrine Primary School.  We will be sending a letter to all parents/past pupils/grandparents to get information about your experiences at Catrine Primary School.  We are looking for photographs, newspaper clippings, special memories or stories.  If possible, please date your items.

Please bring these into school and give them to Mrs Ferguson, Mrs Goudie, Haily Rafferty, Rachael Swegsda or Calvin Donnelly (P7s)

These will be photocopied and returned to you.

Business as usual!

It’s great news that both the Primary School and our ECC are open today, with the children full of stories about the fun they’ve been having in the snow during the school closure days.

I’d like to thank Mrs Fleming at the ECC, and both Mr Rooney and Miss Hall at the PS, for the huge amount of work they’ve put in over the past few days to ensure that our establishments are safe and warm for our pupils and staff to return to.  Their commitment is much appreciated.
