USA Topic

During our USA topic, we learned lots about the states, weather, climate, famous American landmarks and people such as Martin Luther King and events in US history including 9/11.

Check out the models we built of famous USA landmarks…are they great?!

Elf in the ECC

Christmas Parties in the ECC

The children had great fun dancing and playing party games and then had some party food before a special visitor arrived. Santa enjoyed hearing the children singing Jingle Bells and had presents for everyone.

Special thanks to Dinos for donating the ice-cream, which was very popular with the children.

Carol Singing in The Square

The children from the ECC were joined by the school choir for Carol singing in Mill Square. They had great fun showing off their fantastic singing and great moves. They were well supported by friends, families and locals.

First Aid Course

The ECC hosted Paediatric First aid courses for our parents and carers delivered by ReactFast first aid training. Some of the ECC staff also attended and updated their first aid skills along with the parents.

They learned many skills including CPR and how to use an Epi-Pen as well as finding out how to deal with things such as convulsions and injuries.

We will be hosting First Aid courses again in the future so let the ECC know if you are interested.

Stay and Play in the ECC

The ECC welcomed our parents and carers to ‘Stay and Play’ on Wednesday 13th Dec. We had lots of Christmas themed activities and the children enjoyed showing off their work and floor-books.  On the day they made cards in the Elmer Room, calendars and reindeer food in the Gruffalo Room and Santa hat snacks in the Hungry Caterpillar Room. Some brave parents even joined in the dancing  in the Monkey Room.

“Brilliant morning, lots of credit goes to the staff for their efforts.”

“This is a great day and look forward to more, love the fact I get to see what my child gets up to and how amazing the staff are.”

“A lovely morning spent exploring, making, playing, dancing and singing. What a lovely atmosphere.”

“It’s lovely to come and see the children in their setting and seeing their floor-books.”

Outing to the Odeon Cinema

The children had a fantastic outing to the Odeon Cinema in Kilmarnock on Wednesday 13 December to see “The Star”. All children behaved beautifully and were commended by the staff at the cinema for their polite manners.

Well done!!

House Reward Party

All children in Avalon are looking forward to their house reward party tomorrow at Catrine Games Hall. Children should wear their school uniform and bring their gym kit/trainers with them so they can enjoy the activities.

Thank you.

Post Office and Elf

The children in the ECC were learning about a Post Office, they made their own post-box, letters, labels and parcels. They were learning about the different sizes of parcels and they had to problem solve if they were going to fit in the post box when posting them. Children were also exploring money within the post office buying items and giving change to others. Number recognition was developed through the coins and counting out stamps. One of the first letters was from the ELF on the shelf, the children are having great fun talking about what the ECC elf is getting up to and also they love to tell the staff about their own elf’s doing at home.
