**Just a reminder **
We will close early
at 2.30 pm
on
Friday 23 December
for the Christmas holidays.
Merry Christmas from all the staff and pupils at Catrine Primary School. We wish you a safe and happy holiday.
Last week P6/7 completed outdoor activities related to information handling. One group measured the height of trees in the playground (using a very interesting method!), then created line graphs to display the height of different trees. The second group gathered objects they found in the playground and made a tally table to show the amount of each item.
All pupils had fun, whilst developing skills in measuring accurately, gathering data and presenting data in a clear and visual way. These outdoor activities allowed us to transfer our skills and apply our learning in class to a different environment.
As part of our Japan topic, P6/7 worked in groups to build model volcanoes. We then used our volcanoes to carry out a science experiment and investigate chemical reactions. When vinegar and bicarbonate of soda mix, it produces carbon dioxide and water. This causes the mixture to fizz up and bubble out of the volcano…just like it is erupting!
Mia, Eliza and I have made a Sway about our school values, to remind everyone of them.
Mauchline Co-Op has generously donated mince pies to serve with tea/coffee after our closing service tomorrow. If you would like to give a donation, there will be a box available. Thank you.
The raffle raised £333.70!! for school funds. The lucky winner of the hamper was Khian Alfonso. Again, the whole school would like to thank Mauchline Co-Op for making this possible.
With a captive audience we plan to promote our new school website and give parents a chance to look at the first draft of our Respectful Relationships Policy! We will hold workshops in the New Year and hope you can give us your feedback. Children will come round on the evening of the performance and try to collect your views.

Please remember to bring your ticket tonight for the show as this is your seat number. Both shows are sold out and due to fire regulations and health and safety there will be no standing permitted. We look forward to seeing you at our show.

We had a fantastic time at the cinema watching Finding Dory today! The children had a great time and had so much fun.
Congratulations to our star writers this week! You managed to write a wonderful story about your weekend and include finger spaces, capital letters and full stops – WELL DONE!
All children should arrive at the school by 6.30 p.m. on both nights of the school show Tuesday 13 and Wednesday 14 December. As primaries 1 to 4 are performing as the pantomime choir they should wear their casual clothes (not school uniform). Primaries 5 to 7 will put their costumes on in school. For security and safety all children must be picked up from their class when the show finishes at approximately 8.30 p.m.
We look forward to seeing you at the show.
The Parent Council donated £200.00 towards the cost of the buses for our Festive trip to the cinema. A huge THANK YOU to the Parent Council as this enabled all children to go free.
The p1’s in the Rainbow Room have been practising their letter formation.
