Chess Wednesday
We have now learned all of the pieces on the board and the moves they can make. We are really enjoying the game and it is developing so may skills.
As much as we love to win we are also very supportive of helping each other and making sure everyone feels confident when they play. Click below to watch some of the action.
New Skills
It’s an exciting time in P5/6 as we are learning lots of new skills. We are becoming Chess masters as we continue to learn all of the pieces on the board and follow the rules of the game. We are getting very good at it and our problem solving skills are improving each week. This week we taught the P6/7 class how to play, they found it tricky at first but we helped them with their moves and captures.
This week we also started a block of rugby. We played lots of different games to get us familiar with some of the rules. We will be taking part in rugby for the next three weeks on a Wednesday.
We are well into our novel study, Charlotte’s Web and we are enjoying our new reading trios. We are developing out comprehension through lots of different activities.

Christmas Week
It’s been a crafty Christmas week in P5/6. There might not have been many of us in school but we took our Christmas cheer to the next level. We made lots of crafts including our own crackers (complete with joke, hat and treat), festive stones, hama bead decorations and gingerbread houses. We also had time for a Christmas movie and some snacks.
We would like to wish you all a very happy and healthy Christmas and best wishes for the new year.
See you all in 2022.
WINNER WINNER WINNER
Arty Antonia bagged herself a huge chocolate hamper after winning a competition. Antonia won first place in the ‘Lost Elf’ poster competition run by Shimmer and Shine home furnishings shop in Cumnock. She had to help some elves find their buddy who was last seen in the Rudolph Forest. Antonia’s colourful poster was picked from more than 50 entries as the winner.
Well done Antonia.
Wednesday Round-up
It has been a busy week in P5/6. We have been working on writing an accurate summary as well as starting perimeter in maths. We have been doing some festive art as well as some STEM challenges. We made our own marble mazes and tin foil boats and if you look up at our class windows you might see some special winter art designs.
