On Thursday we celebrated World Book Day. We read favourite books that some of us had brought from home. We talked about who we liked to share books with and drew pictures to show us reading our favourite book together. In the afternoon Primary 6/7 came to our class to read with us. We loved listening to their stories and then they stayed to play with us a while! Primary 6 and 7 have also recorded books for us to enjoy on the iPads.
On Friday we had great fun outside. We used our imagination to build a pirate ship, created a jail in our new den and worked together with the P3’s to design a ball run using guttering.
Mrs Schendel has spent lots of time with Primary 1 this week and has been super impressed with all the amazing work all the children have been doing.
The children have been consolidating all the sounds they have learned so far, working on their formation and blending sounds together to make words.
As part of our Toys topic, Mrs Ferguson brought out the dressing up box and the children had great fun dressing up as chefs, fire fighters, wolves and so much more.
We learned all about how important it is to ‘Be Bright, Be Seen” when out walking in the dark winter nights. P4, our Junior Road Safety Officers, set us a competition to design a bright hoodie.
BIG TALK REMINDER
We are looking forward to hearing all the children”s talks next week. Please look back at previous post for a reminder of what is expected and for the day your child will be asked to do their presentation.
Have a great weekend.
Mrs Schendel
We really miss having our parents/carers in school to see all the fabulous learning that is taking place.
Mrs Schendel would love a blether with parents/carers of P1 parents about all things maths and will be in the main playground on Tuesday 26th October at 2.45pm.
Please come along and ask any questions you may have in supporting your child with their maths homework or to ask about the maths work taking place in the P1 classroom.
We still need to follow Covid-19 regulations so please remember to wear a face covering, unless exempt, and maintain social distancing.
If you are unable to attend but have any maths related questions you would like to ask please e-mail me at:
roberta.schendel@eastayrshire.org.uk
We look forward to seeing you then.
