Weekly round-up

The children did a fantastic job with their talks this week.  They were all so brave to stand up in front of everyone and talk about their favourite toys.  We are so proud of them all.

This week we were learning the ‘g; sound and the ‘l’ sound. We had fun using gloop and making lemonade.

In maths we have been learning how to write addition calculations using the + and = signs

Our stars of the day are:

Monday – Layla for doing a super Big Talk

Tuesday – Riley for great tidying

Wednesday – Braxton for wonderful detail in his writing

Thursday – Logan B for brilliant tidying and super singing

Friday – Quinn for fantastic singing

And a big congratulations to Logan R and Calli for winning joint pupil of the week by earning the most dojo points.

Week Ending 12/11/21

Congratulations to our Stars of the Day. They all worked so hard this week.

Congratulations also to Calli who was our Dojo points Pupil of the Week.

Here are some of the fun things we got up to this week.

In literacy we have been learning the sounds ‘d’  as in drum and ‘e’ as in egg. I have added the new sounds to the children’s sound cards in their book bags if they brought them today.  It is really important to remember these every day so we can add new sounds when we need to.

The children have brought home lots of pictures today in their book bags.  Can we please ask that they get emptied before returning on Monday.  The only items that should ever be in the bags are their sound cards, sound jotters and their maths scrapbooks.  Everything else such as pictures and the Toucan boxes should be taken out and kept at home.

Thank you for all the maths homework handed in.  If you haven’t had the chance to complete it yet I have kept the scrapbooks in the book bags and it can be handed in on Monday.

Amazing Homework and Super Star Learners

Thank  you so much for all the effort put into the Maths homework this week.  We were blown away with the amazing work you have been doing at home.  Here are some examples of the fantastic work that was handed in.

We will be issuing new homework on Monday and can’t wait to see what amazing work you produce.

Well done to all our Stars of the Day for this week.

Finally a big well done to Allan who was our Pupil of the week for earning the most Dojo points.

Hallowe’en Fun

We had such a good time today for our Hallowe’en fun day.  I thought I was going to have to actually scrape them off the ceiling this morning as they were so excited to come in and show off their costumes.

We started off the morning by watching ‘Room on the Broom’ on the big board. We closed all the blinds and it was just like being at the pictures.

We managed to get some maths and literacy work done even though we were SOOOOO EXCITED for the party. We joined up with Primary 2 and had a party room for dancing and an activity room for chilling out with some spooky activities.

Week ending 22nd October

We have had great fun doing some Hallowe’en activities in maths this week.

We also had so much fun playing with the biggest box ever! We drew all over it and had fun playing inside it too.

We also had great fun building assault courses outside and building roads and ramps with the blocks

We have been consolidating the a,t,s,i,p and n sounds this week and will continue doing this next week too.

Go Purple day and the Last Week of Term 1

Can you believe your amazing P1s have completed their first full term in primary school?  We are so proud of how well they have settled and how hard they have been working.

This week we have been focusing on the “p” and “n” sounds and we put a wee sheet in the book bags that explains the actions for these sounds so you can help to prompt your child at home.

Today was Go Purple Day and the children had great fun completing activities set for us by Primary 6/7.  We went out on a purple teddy hunt; we made giant purple paper chains; we had a purple treasure hunt in the class and we even made a beautiful purple card for the Ayrshire Hospice.

We also had great fun learning through play in the afternoons and the children are becoming so confident when building models and structures.

Just a wee reminder that the Book bags must be brought to school every day, and it’s especially important that the sound cards are in the bags every day too.

We hope you have a lovely week off and we will see you back on Tuesday 19th October.

Milk Bottle Lids

We are collecting milk bottle for making resources and using as loose parts. If you have any you are due to throw out, please send them into us instead. Just pop them in your child’s book bag (we would really appreciate if they were rinsed out first).

Many thanks,

Mrs Cook and Mrs Ferguson

Week Ending 1st October

We have put the new “i” sound into their sound card bag to practice at home.

We also had great fun with all our maths activities this week.

Home Learning Pack

Your child has been sent home with a Home Learning pack.  Inside you will find a number of different resources to help them complete activities at home.

Inside the bag there should be:

  • A white board, whiteboard pen and whiteboard rubber
  • A pencil, sharpener and rubber
  • A bundle of coloured pencils
  • A pair of scissors

If there is anything missing from your child’s pack, please let us know.  From time to time we may send home items that should be kept in the pack so please keep it in a safe place.

The home learning pack should be kept at home and not brought back into school.

Next week we shall be sending home another bag that will be called the BOOK BAG.  The book bag will contain their sound cards for practising at home, as well as any other homework activities, and it must be brought to school EVERY DAY as we will be adding new sounds regularly.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to email us.
