This month the children will explore Article 12 which states ‘each child has the right to be heard, their opinions deserve to be taken seriously and acted upon, especially if it involves certain aspects of their lives. Each child should be given enough information to make informed choices independently’.
This will be done through activities and group times where the children have input in their own learning, as well as children’s voices captured within all planning throughout the areas within the ECC.
Please fill in this short questionnaire regarding this article to help us on our journey to gaining our silver award:-

This month the children will be working on article 28 which covers the children’s right to an education. This will be done through group times and through the free-flow responsive planning that is done within all of our areas of the ECC. The staff will also be involved in commenting on what we feel is a fundamental part of a child’s education, and what skills we should be including within our education, as well as anything that we feel could be improved on.
I would appreciate it if you could click the link below and take a few minutes out of your day to answer a short questionnaire regarding your child’s education. This will help us on our journey to gaining a Silver Award.
Hi everyone,
This month we will be exploring Article 27 from the UNCRC. To promote the children’s understanding we will be asking the children
- what do you have in your house?
- what do you need in your house?
- what would you like in your house?
We have already been discussing this within the centre, but it would be great to see what the children could share with you at home. Please tell us how you get on and share any pictures, markings etc for us to display proudly on our UNCRC display wall.
Article 27 (adequate standard of living)
Every child has the right to a standard of
living that is good enough to meet their
physical and social needs and support
their development. Governments must
help families who cannot afford to
provide this.

Hi everyone,
For those who don’t know me my name is Rena and I, with the assistance of staff, parents and children this year, will be working on the Rights of the Child. Within the ECC we will explore a range of articles from the UNCRC. As a centre we are aiming to achieve our bronze Rights Respecting Schools award before moving onto silver and of course (fingers crossed) one day GOLD
Each month we will concentrate on a new “Right” that reflects our children’s needs. Within the ECC the children and staff will gather evidence which will be documented in a floor book around how we ensure each of our children become more aware of their rights and how we help to support them in experiencing them. Parents will be asked to contribute their views on what they think we do well, and perhaps offer ideas as to what we may be able to do better. Within the centre there will also be a wall display where the children’s monthly Right will be displayed.
This month we will be starting with Article 24
“You have the right to adequate health care, clean water and nutritious food.
We would love for you to answer 4 very short questions in the FORM above. These should only take a few minutes to complete.
Thank you in advance
