We made the papers again :)

In February we were successful in receiving  our Early Years Award through Digital Schools.

And guess what – turns out, we are the first ECC in SCOTLAND to have achieved this!!!

On Tuesday 16th April we were visited by local counsellors, EAC’s Chief Executive Eddie Fraser and our Head of Education Linda Macaulay Griffiths to join us in celebrating the fabulous achievement.

Two of the articles can be found below.

Care Inspectorate report in full

As you will be aware in February 2024 we received an unannounced visit from Care Inspectorate. This is usually aimed to be carried out every 5 years.

During the holidays our report was made public on the Care Inspectorate website.

We were delighted with the feedback we received and the fantastic narrative within our report.

The staff have worked extremely hard over the past few years, pushing for positive outcomes for all of our families in everything that we do, and we are so pleased that this report has acknowledged this throughout.

The full report is attached below for your convenience and we ask that you take some time to read it.

Thank you to everyone that completed the parent/carer questionnaire prior to the report being published and for your very kind comments and feedback.

I hope you are as proud of the report as we all are here at Catrine Early Childhood Centre 🙂

Leoni’s early writing parent/family workshop

On Tuesday 25th March our Literacy Champion carried out a parent workshop within the ECC. Please follow the SWAY link below to see just some of the opportunities that were on offer.

Literacy Workshop – Tuesday 26th March 9-10am

It’s Leoni’s turn 🙂

Leoni is our Literacy Champion and she would like to invite you along to her workshop based around developing early writing skills.

Parents often ask how they can support their child in areas such as Literacy and Numeracy so Leoni has prepared a short presentation to hopefully answer some questions. There will then be an opportunity to visit our playrooms and outdoor areas,  alongside your child, to explore a range of Literacy resources and get ideas for experiences you could continue to offer at home.

If you are interested in attending our Literacy Workshop we ask that you complete the booking form below to help us plan ahead.

Stay and Play & Bookbug sessions

AMAZING !!!

Thank you to everyone that joined their child and staff today for our Stay and Play.

It was so well attended and we can’t wait for the next time 🙂

Stay and Play session – 16.11.23

Please complete the very short form below to book into our Stay and Play session.

This will be a chance for you and your child to explore our playrooms and outdoor environment together.

There will be no set focus for the day – simply quality time together, a chance to meet your child’s friends and participate in some of our learning experiences on offer.

November Parent Appointments

We are holding Parent Appointments at the end of the month for our PRE-SCHOOL children.

When we return to the ECC after the Christmas holidays you will be required to register your child for school. This is a legal requirement for all school aged children. Parent/carers must register their child AT THEIR CATCHMENT area school regardless of their preference. The application will then give you the option to complete a Placing Request form if you would like to apply to a different school, or to complete a deferred entry form should you wish to give your child an additional year at the ECC.

We understand that you may have questions you would like to ask before you make any final decisions and at this point staff can give further information on individual progress.

Please see below for dates and times allocated for each keyworker group and we ask that you phone the office on 01290 551233 to book a slot. If you are unable to attend in person we ask that you accept a phone call. As you will appreciate going forward, December is a very busy month within the ECC and it cannot be guaranteed that staff can be released from the floor on other days.

Bookbug and a Cuppa

On Tuesday 7th November we are holding a Bookbug session within our Community Room with Alana.

The Bookbug session with your child will be from 9.15am-10am.

Once this is finished the children will return to the playrooms, thereafter, from 10-11am, you are free to stay in our Community room and have a cuppa and a blether with other parent/carers from the ECC if you have time to do so.

If you and your child would like to join us on this morning then please fill out the form below. Due to the quality that we aim to provide and space, this session will be capped at 15 spaces so please don’t wait too long to request a space.
