On Thursday 16th January SLC3 had a follow up visit to Dumfries House to further investigate electricity. We were given a tour of the house and explored how electricity has been developed throughout the years. We then created our own circuits using buzzers, motors and bulbs. We even managed to create a human circuit using the computer, the whole class were able to join in!

P3/4 Dumfries House
We had a wonderful day at Dumfries House on Friday. As part of our IDL, we visited the farm and the farm animals. We got to touch and feed some farm animals including chickens, ducks and pigs. We also learned about the journey of milk from source to consumer. A highlight was definitely getting to use ingredients to prepare and bake our own cheese and chive scones. We even made our own butter!
P3 – Dumfries House – Food and Farming
Primary 3 had a fantastic excursion to the Dumfries House farm. We enjoyed a farm tour where we learned about each animal, fed the chickens and ducks and even got to stroke a pig! We also learned how to use ingredients to make scones. We had to cut chives from the garden and used these in our savory scones. We made our own butter by taking it in turns to shake full cream as fast as we could for at least 10 minutes. This was a very worthwhile learning experience which we all enjoyed.
SLC2 at Dumfries House
We have recently spent two half days at Dumfries House. We have been working in the garden and helping to tidy up and prepare it for the new season. We have learned about looking after plants. We were using some of the garden tools and had to make sure we were doing so safely. We planted our own broad beans and brought them back to school to watch them grow in class. For all of our hard work we were rewarded with some time in the maze. We eventually made it to the middle, after finding a few dead ends!
P3 – Pond-dipping at Dumfries House
As part of our minibeast topic, Primary 3 enjoyed a visit to Dumfries House today to pond-dip and search for different minibeasts whose habitat is in the water. Have a look at the photographs below for a snapshot of our day.
