Our Wear it Blue Day was a super success and all of our pupils enjoyed wearing either their Barshare blue sweatshirts or other types of blue clothing…some even had blue hair!
Throughout that day and for all of that week members of the Barshare Barrier Busters were selling their very own blue ribbons and managed to raise a whopping £50. Can we please take this opportunity to say thank you for all of your help and support and we will be donating the money to Dyslexia Scotland.
Everyone at Barshare would like to say a special thank you to Mary’s Fabric Shop in Cumnock for helping us and supplying the ribbon and pins at a discounted cost – we couldn’t have done it without you!
SLC2 used the outdoor environment to measure. We found different objects and compared their length to the metre stick. We could identify and discuss whether they were longer or shorter than a metre.
Battle of the Books was a super success today at assembly time. 3 P7s stood on top of their soapboxes and loudly stated why their book was the best! It was a tough battle but Stephanie managed to just land the crown as hers!
As we are now at the early stages of learning to blend in Primary 1, the pupils practised making up words using the sounds they have learned on jigsaw pieces.
To practice identifying sounds and matching them with associated words, the children were encouraged to look at the given pictures and match them up to the correct sound in their circle.
We use a variety of different games to reinforce all the initial sounds and encourage the children to identify newly learned sounds in words they know.
P5, P6 and P7 had a visit from Judy Ferguson who works with Womans Aid. Judy was in to support our learning in Health and Wellbeing and was focusing on the importance of healthy and positive relationships. We will be seeing her again in a couple of weeks!
