Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to you all. It has been a bit of an usual start to the year but we are happy to be back!
A few reminders as we return from Christmas. Please make sure any new clothing or equipment have you children’s name on them. We had a massive amount of lost property at the end of term and we were unable to find their owners.
New Christmas toys should not be brought to school unless permission from the teacher is given. We don’t want new toys wasted or damaged when other children ask to play with them. A wee reminder that trading cards such as Pokemon are only allowed on a Friday.
This term we will be working on 3 goals for this term are manners, fantastic walking and tidying up after yourself. The whole school will be working on these and trying hard to be more responsible for our own belongings. House points start next week with tokens being handed out for these goals as well as good behaviour and kindness.
We are not able to use the grass for a few weeks as it has to be given a chance to drain. So the children have been informed to stay off the grass.
Weather conditions are not great at the moment so please make sure children have appropriate footwear and a jacket.
This week we are enrolling our Primary 1s for next session and for anyone who has a child aged 4 who is starting school in August, this week is an online process only and we will be in touch with our transition plans very soon.
A warm welcome back and we are looking forward to a very successful 3rd term!

HT Christmas message

We’ve made it. December the 23rd has finally arrived. We have had an amazing School Christmas run up. We have crammed so much in that both the children and adults are exhausted.

A massive well done to all the children for everything they have taken part in. We have had Christmas carols at Nursing Homes and Supermarkets, Parties, Christmas Fayre, a visit from Santa, Panto, Church Christmas Service, Campus concert, Pr 2 carol concert and the amazing Nativity. It has been a very busy few weeks and the children have outdone themselves as usual. I am very proud of each and every one of them.

This year has been a difficult year for so many of our families with illness, the loss of someone dear to them and the financial challenges we have had. It has been lovely to see our community pull together in times of need. We have stopped to think about our staff members wee Andy and Liz the cleaner who we lost this year. They continue to be remember and missed in the school. Although this will be a hard time of year for a number of my children and families, my thoughts are with you at this time.

This school is truly the best place to work and learn and it couldn’t be done without the outstanding professionalism, dedication and enthusiasm that my staff show on a day to day basis. I want to thank my outstanding classroom assistant team for the support they give our children every day. A huge thank you to Mrs Ethel McLean who will be leaving us today. Thank you for the support you have given our children.

The clerical team have as usual gone above and beyond. The challenging circumstances that the team have been face with closures, illnesses and Covid has been massive this year and I can’t thank them enough for approaching every new challenge with a “can do” attitude.

Teaching staff have been working extremely hard to come back to our new normal with high expectations of the children. We are really seeing the benefits of the hard work that is going in and the school is in a much more positive place for the way the team are supporting each other and moving the school forward. Thank you for your hard work and support.

To the amazing dedication of my Management Team. We have faced challenges head on this year. At times the impact of this has taken its toll on each one of you. The support you give me, the children and the staff in school is above and beyond every day. I simply couldn’t do it without you so thank you for everything you do.

Another very successful year for the Parent Council. I want to thank you all for the extra work and support you give to the children in the school. We have benefitted so much from the work and fundraising you have done. To every parent and carer, I want to thank you for your support and we really appreciate how we can work together as a team to get the best possible support and experience for the children in Annanhill.

With that I will sign off until January. I hope Santa is good to you all and I hope you enjoy making memories with your family and friends. Take care and Merry Christmas!
