IDL Showcase – reminder

You are invited to come along on Tuesday the 21st of January, between 6 and 7p.m., to our open evening where the children will be showing their interdisciplinary learning (Topic work) . We are looking forward to seeing you there and sharing our learning with you.

Galston Parent group will start again on Tuesday 14^th January from 2pm- 3pm, led by Mrs Willsden. The topic over the next few weeks will be ‘Understanding anxiety and distressed behaviour’. The first 2 sessions will involve viewing the pre recorded NEST workshops together, followed by discussion.

Please note that parents can also view these workshops at home on the NEST website https://www.nest.scot/videos.

Celine Dyer from NEST is unable to attend the session on Tuesday 21st January but has arranged to attend on Tuesday 28th January from 2pm- 3pm to answer any questions based on the workshop.

All parents are welcome to join. Tea and coffee will be available.

The Unsinkable Ship – Titanic

Our P5 pupils are planning a visit to the Titanic Experience in Belfast on 6th May 2025. The children would leave the school at 9:00am and return at 11:30pm. approximately.The cost of this trip would be around £80 – £85 per person. At this time we are looking for feedback to find out if parents would be interested in their child attending a trip to the Titanic Experience. This trip will only be able to go ahead if there is enough interest to fill the spaces required. Secondary School registration for P7

As you are no doubt aware, your child is due to transfer from primary to secondary education at the beginning of the new school session (August 2025).

Coffee and Carols

We are pleased to inform you that we will be performing our annual Coffee and Carols Show (including our P1s Nativity) on the following dates:-

· Wednesday 11th December – 1.30pm – 3.00pm

· Thursday 12th December – 6.00pm – 7.30pm

Tickets are priced at £3.00 each and are limited to 2 per family at one performance only. Tickets will be on sale from the school office from Thursday 28th November. We are unable to reserve any tickets as we are restricted in total numbers due to the size of the hall. Tickets will be sold on a first come first served basis. To help us out if you have the correct money to pay for your ticket this would be greatly appreciated. There will be a reserve list generated on the off chance that there are any tickets left.

Be Bright, Be Seen

As winter is setting in and the days are darker in the mornings and afternoons our JRSO committee have turned towards think about the impact this has on our safety.

Today is Be Bright Be Seen Day. This is something that the Junior Road Safety Officers have been working on in the school.

The JRSO Group have arranged for classes to design posters and are raising awareness around the school and informing children about the importance of wearing bright clothes when they are outside in the darker mornings and evenings. For each poster handed in the children have received a reflector to clip on to their jackets or bags

Anti Bullying Week 11th – 15th November

Yesterday saw the start of our Anti-bullying week in Galston Primary. The focus across the country for 2024 is Respect which is one of our school values. The children will be taking part in various activities about this issue throughout the week.
