Walk to School Week

Just a reminder for today and Walk to School Week.

It’s wear sunglasses and/or sunhat today when walking to school.

Look out for a letter from P7S later today about our parking campaign.

Have a lovely walk and remember to add your walk to the total for the day!

P7 Residential

The Primary 7 children left this morning for their residential at Ford Castle in Northumberland.  They have lots of great activities planned and will have a busy time.

For parents of children who are on the residential trip:

They have arrived safely and please look out for the email link sent out at approximately 8 p.m. daily with photos from the day.

Reminder Dress Down

On the 14th May we are celebrating diversity.  The over arching theme is we all have strengths and talents so we need to be kind towards each other and respectful of our differences.

We will be having a dress down day on this date.  Please remember that as with all dress down days no football strips should be worn. This includes local, team, national or international strips.

World of Work Week

This week sees many visitors to the school in connection with our World of Work week. We have a wide variety of professions represented. This includes many aspects of our health-related services e.g.  Intensive Care Unit nursing, dietetics, dental nursing, paramedic service, physiotherapy, and other services like police, coastguard service, and RNLI volunteers.  We will also have visits from RHET for farming, a farrier, a pilot, a joiner, a civil servant working with the OECD, someone from hotel management, a stage props creator, a beautician, a head of marketing, and a journalist.

Many thanks go to the fire service personnel, ambulance service personnel and joiner who came in at the end of last week as this week was so busy it was difficult to fit in all the volunteers.  The children really enjoyed your input.

Thanks must go to the teaching staff who organised and pulled together this wide variety of people to ensure every class were timetabled for inputs throughout the week.

Church Service and Easter Thanks

The children, staff, parents and carers in attendance this morning enjoyed an excellent Easter Service in Galston Parish Church, conducted by Reverand Lacy.   A well-deserved “Thank You” goes to Reverand Lacy for conducting the service. Helping him were Penny, Struan, and Harry who told the Easter Story and Myka who recited the Jellybean poem.  A huge thank you to them and to all of the children who sang in their classes.

Thanks, must also go to Jim Hewitson, our crossing patroller, for the donation of creme eggs for pupils. It was very much appreciated by all.

A huge thanks to everyone who brought in tissues and wet wipes as part of our dress down day yesterday. It was an excellent turnout, and everyone appeared to have enjoyed the day.

From all of us here at Galston Primary we hope you have a safe and happy Easter break.  We look forward to seeing the children back to school on Monday 15th April.

Easter Craft

Thank you to all the parents and carers who came along to our Easter Crafts after school today.  It was lovely to see you enjoying crafting with the children and all of those smiling faces on such a wet day.  Thank you to the staff members who organised the crafts and the afternoon. It was very much appreciated by everyone who came along.

Thank You for Our Spring Fling

Thank you to Galston Parent Council for organising our spring fling discos last night (20th March).

The DJ was great and the children enjoyed the dancing, the games and the colouring.  Combined together, all of these elements meant that the children had a great time.

Thank you to all of the adults who helped out on the night.
