Dress Down or Dress Up

Children are welcome to come to school on Friday  (25th October) either in fancy dress or dressed down. We ask that pupils do not have scary face paints or scary masks on. As usual we ask for a donation of £1 per child to participate in this fun activity which is used to purchase additional resources and treats for our pupils. This donation is payable through ParentPay or if you require a barcoded letter to make your donation please contact the school office.
Thanks for your continued support.

Harvest Service

Staff and pupils would like to invite parents along to our Harvest Service held on 11th October at 9:30a.m. at Galston Parish Church.

If any parent is able to volunteer to walk with the children to and from the church please contact the school office.

Super Tattie

Super Tattie came to visit last Friday to celebrate Super Tattie’s birthday.  The children in Galston created birthday cards and presented Super Tattie with them and a birthday cake.  The children really enjoyed the birthday menu and everyone had a “Super Tattie ” day.

Every Day Counts

Did you know…?

  • Every day your child is in school counts towards their success.
  • Children are at school 190 days a year which is 39 weeks
  • Children are at home 175 days a year for holidays and weekends,

  • Missing one day every fortnight will mean your child has missed 20 days of learning which equals 4 school weeks missed.
  • Missing 1 day a week equates to two school months
  • Being late or missing time to take term time holidays or making  appointments within school time has an impact.

How we can work together?

  • Ensure your child comes to school every day they can.
  • Try to make appointments out with school hours where possible.
  • Avoid term time holidays where possible.
  • Don’t worry if your child becomes unwell we will contact you and send them home, Sore tummies can be soothed at school and often get forgotten about once they are in school.
  • Phone, email or use the app to register when your child is absent, as if you do not let us know the cause of absence, it is recorded as unauthorised.
  • Contact the office by phone or email for advice or to discuss an issue impacting attendance.
  • We will letter and call you when attendance becomes a concern.

We want the best for the children and families here at Galston Primary and if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Thank you.
