Parent Opportunity

This session, we are able to offer the Seasons for Growth Parent Programme, led by Avril from Barnardo’s.
This 8 week programme will begin on Wednesday 14th May and will continue to run after the Summer holidays. The group time is likely to be 1pm- 3pm.
This programme is for parents who have experienced Change and Loss themselves or for parents who wish to support their children through Change and Loss. The programme is appropriate for families who have experienced serious illness, separation, divorce, loss- any Change or Loss that has had a significant impact on the family and/ or children.
More information can be read in the pamphlets that are left at the main office.
The programme is run in small groups (maximum of 10 adults) and offers a range of discussions and activities that allow parents to learn about what parents can do to help their children with Change and Loss as well as focussing on caring for themselves as a parent and a person.
Depending on the demand, Avril may be able to run two groups and could make one of these a ‘Dads group’.
Parents who have taken part in Seasons for Growth previously are still welcome to fill in the attached glow form if they feel the programme is still relevant to them. If you are interested then please fill in the glow form by following the link below as soon as possible to allow us to create the groups and contact participants.

The Terrific Titanic Trip

Primary 5 had a fantastic trip to the Titanic Museum and Experience in Belfast on the 24th April.  After they had studied the information from history about the Titanic they were super excited to see the very place where Titanic was built.  There was great fun had by all.  Everyone came back having enjoyed the ferry crossing and visit and despite the very long day and late night return the children have been enthusiastically talking about the experience in school this morning.

Thank you again to the parent helpers and staff who accompanied the children, without whom trips like this would not be possible.

A fantastic time was had by all!

Galston Parent Group

Galston Parent group will continue on Tuesday 29th April  from 2pm- 3pm,  led by Mrs Willsden.
The first 2 sessions will involve viewing the pre recorded NEST workshops, focussing on Executive Function, followed by discussion. Please note that many of the strategies will be useful for all children, not solely those who have Autism.
Please note that parents can also view these workshops at home on the NEST website  https://www.nest.scot/videos.
Celine Dyer from NEST will attend the session on Tuesday 20th May from 2pm- 3pm  to answer any questions based on the workshop.
All parents are welcome to join. Tea and coffee will be available.

P3 Cycling

In term 4, primary 3 will be working alongside our Active Schools Coordinator to learn and improve some basic cycling skills. This will take place on a Friday and we are looking to gather some information about pupils current ability and whether they own a bike or not. Please complete the form by following the link below.

Thank You

Thank you to everyone who was able to join us at our Easter Service this morning.  A special thank you goes to all of those who were able to accompany the children as they walked to and from the church.  As always we are very grateful for your help and support to make this happen.  Another special thank your goes to Rev. Lacy who spoke at the service and  to the lovely Vanda who helped us set up all the technology as well.

Thank you everyone and have a Happy Easter.

New School Dinner System

Dear Parent/Carer
From Tuesday 22nd April 2025 East Ayrshire  are introducing a new Cashless Catering system in our school.
The new ordering system is aimed to make the process quicker for your child at lunchtime and by ordering in advance will help Catering Services reach climate change targets by reducing food waste.
ALL meals will be ordered by parents through ParentPay, using your existing Parentpay login. We have a number of parents who use a barcode letter to pay for items and have not activated their online ParentPay account. Activation letters will be issued to pupils in this position today and parents MUST activate their account to pre-order meals before we return on 22nd April.
Please see the attached letter for information and instructions on how to order your child’s meals. If you require any further information please contact the school office.
Thank you for your continued support
