Reading Schools Scotland Week 2nd – 6th February

From the 2nd to the 6th of February we will be taking part in Reading Schools Scotland Book Week.  There is a theme for each day connected to reading for pleasure culminating on Friday afternoon with our Giant Book Swap.

2nd – Ask me what I’m reading – children will be wearing stickers with the book they have read and want you to ask them about it.
3rd – Drop everything and read – Children will have the opportunity to drop everything and read in school and we would encourage them to send in photos of them reading for pleasure at home.
4th – Storytelling – the art of telling stories.  As part of the week and combined with Storytelling Week children will have the opportunity to discuss stories , create their own stories to tell and retell favourite stories
5th – Author take over – There will be online author events, visitors in to read to some of the classes children.  Anyone wishing to share a story with the children should contact Mrs Milne via the office.
6th – Big Book Bonanza – pupils get an opportunity to choose a preloved book from books that have been donated.  There will be an opportunity for parents to come in and choose books later in the afternoon. Any donations you have of books both children’s and adult reading will be welcome and should be handed in to Mrs Milne or the class teachers.
Many other activities will be taking place across the school during the week.
Thank you for your continuing support.
