World Book Day was on Thursday 6th March this year. We had a Reading Week for the week, plus staff and pupils talking about the book that changed their life at assemblies. We also participated in Writes of Passage from WBD.com and asked pupils for their favourite books.
Here is our World Book Day video showing how much our pupils love reading.

Thursday 7th March is World Book Day. As well as £1 book tokens, World Book Day is all about Reading, writing and sharing. Local bookshops will have copies of the special WBD £1 books that you can swop your tokens for.
You can also download a WBD App with stories by famous authors such as Chris Ryan, Dawn Porter, Patrick Ness and Sarah Alderson.
For more inspiration, take a look at Movellas/WBD where you can write stories online and maybe your story will make it into the app, if enough other young people vote for it.
Ask Mrs Bax for your free £1 book token.
Today is World Book Day. Doon Academy’s main activity for WBD this year is using our book tokens with a Scholastic Book Club, but we might try and have some fun too!
We watched the “Greatest Book Show on Earth” webcast with S1.
The start of the story which the authors were playing consequences with was:
“Norbert had heard of a piggyback , but what on earth was a backypig? “
How would you continue the story?
