Numeracy Resources
We will be exploring estimation and how we can use this in our number work to help solve calculations and also in real life contexts.
This video has some great explanations to reinforce class learning and also has some examples for learners to practise:

Follow up activities could include:

*Filling up jars or boxes and learners estimating how many objects there are in the container.

*Using images to encourage estimates, e.g. How many birds can you see in the picture?

*Providing real life contexts, e.g. How many shopping bags do you think we will need for our items?

Encourage your child to share their ideas and discuss how it is ok to change your estimate based on new information.

This week is the split phoneme o_e as in rope (also known as a split diagraph). We say ‘split’ because two single phonemes are split up from each other by another letter. We sometimes call these ‘magic e’ words because the ‘e’ changes the sound of the vowel, e.g. hop becomes hope.
