We have been trying to improve our mental maths calculations – use this 100 square to help you add and subtract these calculations.

100 square

You can flip the 100 square so it counts up from 1 to 100

Remember to add up or down in 10s then add or subtract the ones, here is an example –

23+45 =  (start at 23 jump up 4 lots of 10 then add on 5) = 68

56-24 = (start at 56 jump down 2 lots of 10 then subtract 4 = 32

There are a mixture of calculations here – choose 5 of them – there are some spicy challenge ones.  Feel free to complete them all if you dare!

15+24 =              14+23 =            45+38 =           24+36 =             156+32 =

78-32 =               29-12=              98-74 =            86-53 =              179-52  =

As always check your Bug Club – remember to read the book, answer the bugs and select how you felt about it at the end so that you can earn your coins.

Why not dip into your library and have a look at the books you have previously read. Read them again and see if you can come up with a couple of questions to ask someone in your family about the book – remember – you need to know the answer first!
