This year our class competitions will be held on Monday 5th February and the finals will take place on Thursday 8th February. Please encourage your young person to learn one<\/strong><\/span> of the following Scottish poems. A paper copy will be sent home this week.<\/p>\n

Polis\u00a0 – JK Annand<\/span><\/p>\n

It’s great to be a polis.<\/span><\/div>\n
A muckle strappin polis.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 And stride upon my beat.<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The Shoat cries, “The Polis”<\/span><\/div>\n
To gamblers and to goalies<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 When I come up the street.<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
When we’re the traffic polis.<\/span><\/div>\n
Motorists hae to thole us<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 And draw up unco quick.<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
And gif the motor stole is.<\/span><\/div>\n
We lift them holus bolus<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 And pit them in the nick.<\/span><\/div>\n

Up drives the doctor<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0\u00a0 In his big car.<\/span><\/div>\n
Comes ben the room<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0\u00a0 And speirs hoo ye are.<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“Stick oot yer tongue.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0\u00a0 Cough.\u00a0 Say ninety-nine.<\/span><\/div>\n
Let me feel your pulse.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0\u00a0 Hen, ye’re daein fine.<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“Orange juice for denner.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0\u00a0 At tea-time, same again.<\/span><\/div>\n
An aspirin for supper<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0\u00a0 And ye’ll be richt as rain.”<\/span><\/div>\n
