A close second was Evie from Kirkmichael EYC 1 with \u2018<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/dg\/public\/sweic\/uploads\/sites\/8420\/2021\/12\/16145429\/Nursery-Runner-up.jpg\">the sad Christmas tree<\/a><\/strong>\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The winner in the P1-3 Category is Zara, P1 Dundonald with &#8216;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/dg\/public\/sweic\/uploads\/sites\/8420\/2021\/12\/16145500\/P1-3-Winner.png\">The Gift<\/a><\/strong>&#8216;. I love the idea that snowflakes are a gift. The runner-up is Della-Mae Hall from St Ninians, Prestwick \u2013 \u2018<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/dg\/public\/sweic\/uploads\/sites\/8420\/2021\/12\/16145456\/P1-3-Runner-up.png\">A Cuddle to Esme-Rose<\/a><\/strong>\u2019. What better a gift than a cuddle especially as we went for so long not being able to give each other a cuddle!<\/p>\n<p>In the P4-7 category we received a fantastic selection of writing but there were two that stood out. They both demonstrated great originality and it was a difficult decision but the winner is \u2018<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/dg\/public\/sweic\/uploads\/sites\/8420\/2021\/12\/16145505\/P4-7-Winner.docx\">A gift for Timmy<\/a><\/strong>\u2019 by Daniel Ferguson, P7K, Doonfoot Primary \u2013 written from the perspective of a Christmas tree. The runner-up is \u2018<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/dg\/public\/sweic\/uploads\/sites\/8420\/2021\/12\/16145504\/P4-7-Runner-up.docx\">The Gift<\/a><\/strong>\u2019 by William Hardman, P5 Barassie Primary about Santa&#8217;s transportation machine. I had no idea that was how Santa travelled!<\/p>\n<p>Finally, in the S1-3 category there were a number of excellent entries \u2013 a delight to read. It is warming to see so many wonderful writers in South West Scotland! After careful consideration the winner is Callum Holt from Belmont Academy for &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/dg\/public\/sweic\/uploads\/sites\/8420\/2021\/12\/16145507\/S1-3-Winner.docx\"><strong>101 Men<\/strong><\/a>&#8216; and the close runner up is Francesca Seton &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/dg\/public\/sweic\/uploads\/sites\/8420\/2021\/12\/16145506\/S1-3-Runner-up.docx\"><strong>The Strength to Go<\/strong><\/a>&#8216; from St Joseph&#8217;s College, Dumfries, both exploring the theme in a unique and unusual way.<\/p>\n<p>Well done to everyone who submitted an entry, and congratulations to all our winners and runners-up!<\/p>\n<p>Happy Christmas.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are absolutely delighted to announce the winners in our SWEIC Christmas Writing Competition.
