Budding Artists in P1

P1 learned about mixing primary colours to make secondary colours. Then, they learned about the famous artist called Kandinsky and created their own versions of his Circles painting. It was great fun! They are on display outside the classroom so feel free to come and see.

Burns Lunch

Today was our Burns Lunch, we had a traditional Burns lunch of haggis, or kilted sausages, prepared by the kitchen staff, followed by shortbread, ice cream and caramel sauce; washed down with Irn Bru.

The senior pupils listened to Konar in Primary 7, playing his chanter, before they were entertained by a group of P7 pupils, reciting Address to a haggis.

The younger pupils, were entertained by Mr Warner (from MHS) who played the bagpipes, before another group of P7 pupils recited the Burns Poem.

The whole school were impressed with the talent on display today; well done to everyone involved!

Big Burns Carnival

Primary 7 pupils took part in The Big Burns Carnival on Sunday 24th January. They spent hours in the afternoon rehearsing and getting ready in their costumes. Thank you to the parents who stayed with the children. You’re support at these wider achievement events is greatly appreciated,  and is essential in ensuring our pupils can access these opportunities.

The children were fantastic in the carnival itself. Fortunately the weather stayed dry. They were excellent representatives of our school, and super role models. A massive thank you to Angie Gilmore who led the group through the carnival and to those parents who also took part.

‘Dinners With Children’

On Tuesday 26th January, 10 pupils from Primary 5 and Primary 6 will be taking part in the ‘Dinners With Children’ event as part of the Big Burns’ Supper. This will involve the children working at local restaurant, Primo Piano, for the evening. They will be preparing and cooking a three course meal as well as serving the full restaurant.

To prepare for this exciting event the children visited the restaurant on Wednesday and had a trial run of cooking the main course – Haggis and Chicken Lasagne! The children had a great time and they are all really excited for the event.

Good luck to everyone involved!

The children worked hard to perfect the tricky Scottish/Italian Lasagne recipe!

P7 Sharing Learning

Primary 7 are sharing their learning at assembly on Friday 29th January. We have been learning more about Scot’s Language and the life and works of Robert Burns. We hope you are able to come along and see what’s been happening in class.

Primary 7 pupils are also taking part in the Big Burns Carnival, this Sunday (24th January). We have been working with The Electric Theatre Company since September in preparation for this event. Look out for us in our Ice Sprites costumes!

Life as a Victorian child

Primary 6 were investigating what it would be like to go to school in Victorian times.  They enjoyed dressing up in Victorian outfits – the boys were particularly keen to wear the girls’ outfits!  Some had a go at standing in the corner wearing the dunce’s cap.PTDC0135 PTDC0978 PTDC0980 PTDC0981 PTDC0982 PTDC0983 PTDC0984 PTDC0985 PTDC0987 PTDC0988
