Keeping Healthy

Over the last two weeks the children have had lots of fun in our hospital.  We have been talking about why people go to hospital and about what makes us feel poorly.

We have also been learning how to get help when we need it and how to take medicines safely.  The children have been talking about Miss Polly’s Dolly and what they could do to help her feel better.  As well as making a super display of all the characters from the song the children have also been acting out the story.  We have some budding actors in Nursery!

Some of our children decided to design a bed for Miss Polly’s Dolly.  A lot of thinking and hard work went into the design process.

Have a look at their wonderful creations.  We even had a bed that can fly as it has big, strong wings!

Primary 7 Assembly

On Friday, 29th January 2016, as Storm Gertrude was raging, Primary 7 held a Burns Assembly, to showcase their learning about Burns’ Life and Scots Language. Storm Gertrude was very powerful, high winds caused lots of damage, including trampolines being blown over, flooding and trees falling down, as a result many people couldn’t make it to school. Fortunately P7 were able to carry on with the assembly; some individuals took on additional roles so that we could still share all our information with the audience.

At the beginning we felt nervous at the thought of performing to a big audience, but by the end we were much more confident. This has been a good practise for our leavers assembly at the end of the year, when we once again will perform to a large audience.

We hope you enjoyed watching us!

Victorian School

Primary 6 had an interesting afternoon today by experiencing what it would be like to be a child in a Victorian school.  We dressed up and completed Victorian-type tasks such as handwriting, recitation and saying prayers.  3 children had to wear the dunce cap and 2 even got the cane!  Some of us found it fun but others thought it was scary.

Primary 3 Visit to Hanover Close

Primary 3 were visiting Hanover Close to find out about different kinds of houses in our local area.

We met May and Sandra, who are residents, Fred, who is the manager and Anne who comes in to help the residents out.

They also got to have a look around the building.

The children had a great time learning about how things work in Hanover Close and were all really well behaved, a real credit to the school.

‘Dinners with Children’ success!

Wow! What a night! On Tuesday evening nine of our Primary 5 and 6 pupils took over the running of Primo Piano to serve a delicious three course Scottish-Italian meal. The children worked extremely hard and the night was a huge success. Each of the children were fantastic representatives for our school and displayed the attributes of true professionals. A great evening was had by all who attended. Well done!
