As part of their My Body topic, P1 wanted to learn about looking after their teeth. Pam from Childsmile brought Ally the Alligator in to show how us how to brush properly. She also talked about which foods are not good for our teeth and when we should brush. We got to see what happens when we don’t brush. Pam gave each child a teeth-brushing diary and a funky new toothbrush. Ally is allowed to stay in class until the holidays! Thanks Pam.

Health Week was a huge success last week. Payton’s Mum helped us learn about healthy snacks by painting fruits and vegetables on our faces. We also had a fruit tasting session.
We had a mini triathlon which was organised by Active Schools. We had to run, balance bike and throw bean bags into hoops. We had lots of fun.
We have also been trying out yoga and went on a jungle adventure. We were pretending to be lots of different animals.

Some pupils from St. Ninian’s Primary took part in a spectacular dance show, on Sunday 20th March.
The girls attend Ballet, Jazz and Musical Theatre dance classes every week. Their hard work was very evident in the high quality performances we were treated to. The girl’s explained that they were excited to take part in the show, they particularly enjoyed dancing in front of a large audience and wearing lots of different costumes.
Very well done girls! Everyone in St. Ninian’s Primary are proud of your achievements.

P2 have been studying the weather and as part of this the class went on a trip to the museum to learn more about the weather and how we record it. A lovely lady called Fiona showed us around the museum and we found lots of different types of shoes from through the ages. We had some great discussions about what types of weather would be suitable to wear the different types of shoes in. We also went on a weather hunt around the museum, matching weather symbols with letters to spell the word, rainbow! Finally, we all loved getting to go up the windmill to the Camera Obscura. We got to see out all over Dumfries including the funfair at Whitesands and our very own, St. Ninian’s Primary School. Big thanks to Mrs. Kennon, Miss Russell and Miss Carpenter for joining the class on the trip.

On Friday, our singing group attended the Dumfries and District Music Festival. The group sung two songs in front of a judge. These were ‘Thank you for the Music’ and ‘Where Do We Go From Here?’. The group came 2nd in their class achieving a score of 83 points. Well done to everyone involved. We would also like to say a massive ‘Thank You’ to all the parent supports who came to watch and also to Mrs Brown who helped us get to the venue.

Today Primary 1/2 went on a trip to the museum. This was to learn more about weather and how we can record it. We found different shoes in the museum and discussed in which types of weather we would wear them. Carolyn took us up to the Camera Obscura and we got to see Dumfries. We even got to look at the school! After this, we had a weather hunt around the museum. Thank to Mr Moffat, Mrs Jardine and Miss Nathanson for helping on the trip.
